Spiraled Nuno-felt Art Shawl

This shawl was crafted from hand-dyed silk and an alpaca fiber blend from our own alpacas! It was created by placing thin layers of hand-dyed fiber onto the silk, then wet-felting it by hand until the fibers permanently penetrate the silk. This results in the silk being puckered, giving it a very interesting effect! The final spiral images were needle-felted and then wet-felted by rubbing onto the surface with wet, soapy water.

The final product is one-of-a-kind, warm, and elegant. It can be draped over the shoulders or pinned. I hope you enjoy the feel of natural alpaca fiber and silk as much as I enjoyed working with it!

I made this scarf by hand from silk that I dyed, then embellished with a hand-dyed luxury fiber roving from our own alpacas (baby alpaca/silk/angora). This is done with the process of felting the fibers to the silk by rubbing with soap and water. The colors are a rich autumnal mix of oranges, golds, brown and maroon, The fringe made from handspun yarn in maroon and gold from the same dye bath, and is set off with glasss beads that pick up on the scarf's colors. Finished size is approximately 6" x 55". I hope you'll enjoy wearing it as much as I loved making it!

I've been playing around with nuno felting for a while now, and this is the first of several scarves that I feel confident enough to offer for sale! I made it by hand from silk that I dyed, then embellished with a hand-dyed luxury fiber roving from our own alpacas (baby alpaca/silk/angora. This is done with the process of felting the fibers to the silk by rubbing with soap and water. The autumn colors (dark orange, browny-maroon, and a hint of gold) almost have me wishing for fall. The fringe, made from handspun yarn and set off with glasss beads, adds a touch of fancy. Finished size is approximately 6" x 55". I hope you'll enjoy wearing it as much as I loved making it!

Orange baby alpaca and bamboo yarn

This is some of the silkiest feeling alpaca yarn you'll find, and it's a combination of 90% baby alpaca from our own herd's best whites and 10% bamboo. Each skein is 190 yards of DK weight 2-ply which would be perfect for scarves, hats, gloves, mittens, or even baby items. I hand-dyed it in a lovely solid shade of orange. This particular yarn will combine nicely with the multi-colored "Firestorm" yarn that I also have listed.
