This pattern is a simplified and smaller version of my Shawl Style Earrings using only two colors and an accent bead. The earring shown is from the full kit, Amethyst Destiny, as sold on my website. Here I've used silverlined lavendar seed beads for the main color, dark translucent seed beads for the secondary color, a Czech crackle bead for the accent and sterling silver French earwires. Other variations have used faceted crystal bicones for the accent bead, post earring findings, vintage 3-cuts for the main color - the possibilites are endless. Take a look at my kits page on my website to see some of these variations.

The tutorial includes highly detailed instructions, colored pattern and figures, and materials list (you gather your own beads and findings choosing the colors you like best).

Silver Swarovski made faux pearls and Aurora Borealis finished white bicones are delicate yet sumptuous additions to the bridal costume. Wear them with hair swept up so the gentle dangles catch and spread the light.

Dramatic Black White and Silver Dangle Earrings

What colors go with everything? Black, white and silver. Not only do they match every other color, but every mood and whim as well. The black beads are vintage Czech fire polished faceted crystal rescued from an ald broken necklace. The bicones, made by Swarovski, are a transclucent white with a strong aurora borealis finish. Between are Bali silver daisy spacers, all mounted on an ornate Bali silver headpin. Lightweight but still hung on my favorite Argentium sterling silver SlipLess French earwires.

These earwires can be converted to post and stud or clip ons at your request.

Length of dangle: 1.125 in / 3.9 cm

Sweet Serenade - Freshwater Pearls in a Twist

Imagine soft cream colored sand on a crisp cold winter beach, or scrunching under your bare feet on a sultry Summer day. The beach has is wonders every day of the year whatever the season.

And so do luminous fresh water pearls fit every season. Yet the heart of this piece is the baroque freshwater pearl that was also its inspiration.

The necklace is woven using a modified Ruth's Twist. Small rice-shaped freshwater pearls are woven throughout and the center has a long baroque and two button shaped freshwater pearls. The rest of the beads are barely off-white seed and bugles with a pearlescent finish and is finished with a crystal-clear Czech druk bead and loop clasp. This necklace glows like a bride.

It is 15.5 inches (39.4 cm) in length, choker length. As with all my pieces it comes wrapped in tissue and ensconced in its very own silver satin gift bag.

Timeless Neckpiece for the Etsy Beadweavers April Challenge

When you've traveled through time for as long as I have, you begin to recognize the timelessness of beauty no matter its definition. There is no one who is not, in some way, affected by the sparkle of reflecting light, the shimmer of ireidescence, the mystery of interplaying colors, contrasts and textures.

In "Timeless," the astute observer recognizes the influences of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Steampunk, and SciFi as well as this Time Traveling Artist's own experiiimentation with nuances of black and iridescence, dark and light, tight and open weaves, and the nature of two dimensional curvature in three dimensional space (plus one dimension of time).

Mathematically and aesthetically balanced curces and spaces fall naturally into place for an adronment that is regal, empowering, a joy to wear and behold. A time traveller itself, this neckpiece will become your heirloom for the distant future.

The band is woven of vintage Bohemian Glass beads shaped as tubes cut on the diagonal in a curving variation of brick stitch. The colors are black and iridescent black. The horizontally worked netting is composed of black seed beads with aurora borialis and iridescent finished firepolished Czech faceted beads in two sizes. The four center beads that dangle freely are also Czech firepolished faceted iridescent beads. The contrast that absolutely makes this piece, however, are the bright pink AB Swarovski faceted pillow beads.

The length is adjustible to fit neck circumferences of 12 to 14.5 inches (30.5 to 37 centimeters) comfortably.

As with all my finished works, this timeless treasure comes wrapped in tissue and tucked in a silver satin gift bag.

Very nearly antique true-cuts, Swarovski bicones faceted rounds and faceted teardrops, modern teeny charlottes(15/0) faceted seed beads and my vision all went into this neck piece. The side dangles are removable to make this a convertible necklace. The fastener is a Peyote loop and bead clasp.

Cherry Twist Necklace

"Cherry Twist" is made using another variation of the beadweaving stitch called Ruth's Twist. This variation results in an open weave that is very sturdy despite its delicate appearance.I've used gilt lined rose seed beads in the core and light cherry color lined clear seed beads with an aurora borealis finish abd vintage crystal beads (Swarovski, Austrian and Czech) for the outer beads. The centerpiece of this necklace is a large beautifully facted cherry quartz briolette.

Note that cherry quartz is a manmade stone and is not found in nature. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful rock!

"Cherry Twist" is fastened with a bead and loop clasp using two beads in order to be adjustible between 16.75 inches (42.5 cm) and 16.25 inches 41.3 cm). The larger bead is a vintage faceted crystal while the smaller is a transparent druk.

This is a perfect wedding necklace, with its touch of color and crystal. It comes wrapped in an elegant drawstring gift bag in silver accented with a colored tissue.

Purple Iridescence Dangle Earrings

Part of my newest line of one of a kind affordable earrings, this pair epitomizes the essence of sparkle and glamour. The design was inspired by the icicle shimmer of the large vintage volcano finished Swarovski crystal bicone to which I added the dark richness of iridescent purple beads and exotic elegance of Bali silver daisy spacer beads. Even if you are not one to wear the very long and very ornate chandelier earrings you will find these have the same beauty in a smaller package.

The findings are Argentium sterling silver SlipLess French earwires. They add extra security, less prone to reacting with skin and inhibited tarnishing because Argentium uses the element germanium instead of copper as the sterling alloy.

These earwires can be converted to post and stud or clip ons at your request.

Glitter Green Dangle Earrings

These are the most amazing beads with the iridescent sprinkling confetti embedded in the glass itself. At only 3/4 an inch (1.5 cm) they nonetheless pack a lot of attention grabbing power into such a small area. I believe they are Czech beads but I had only a few and I've never seen them before or since. I used my last four beads in this and one other pair of earrings.

This pair also features volcano finished Swarovski bicones and wire wrapping using sterling silver along with dainty Bali sterling silver daisy spacers. I used Argentium sterling silver SlipLess French earwire for extra security.

Ho Ho Ho Christmas Earrings

After the end of World War Two, Japan began the arduous task of rebuilding even as it was occupied by Allied forces. During that time artisans worked at creating products that would sell outside their own borders such as the intricately painted lamp work beads that make up the dangles of these mid-length earrings. Somewhat simplified, lamp work beads are formed by melting glass onto a mandrel that is held within a small flame. Each is made by hand, one at a time.

Findings: sterling silver SlipLess French earwires, Bali sterling silver daisy spacers, Swarovski headpins with rhinestone. The earwires can be converted to post and stud or clip ons at your request.

Marquise Faceted Citrine and Circular Bead Netting Earrings

My inspiration for this pair of earrings is the golden shimmer of a cold Spring Equinox. The new season opening new beauty upon the land is a welcome shock of delight.

Flat circular bead netting is the latest addition to my beadweaving passions and my newest line of earrings demonstrates this beautifully. The earrings in this line all feature real gem stones such as the gorgeous citrines in this pair. I've used 11/0 Delica beads in the netting in lemony golden yellow and rich bronze which offset the transparent yellow gems perfectly.

This combination of citrine, yellow and bronze go perfectly with a wide range of colors including greens, purples, black, and white. They complement your evening and party wear.

The findings are Slipless French earwires in sterling silver and are both secure and comfortable to wear. The drape is approximately 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) n length. These earrings come wrapped in colorful tissue and ensconced in a silver satin gift pouch.

Cherry Twist Earrings

Like its companion necklace, also called "Cherry Twist," the beadweaving stitch used is a variation of "Ruth's Twist," also known as Dutch Spiral. this variation gives a delicate looking open weave that is, however, very sturdy.

I've used gilt lined rose seed beads in the core and light cherry color lined clear seed beads with an aurora borealis finish abd vintage crystal beads (Swarovski, Austrian and Czech) for the outer beads. These are incredibly sparkly!

The earring findings are SlipLess sterling silver French earwires. These are both comfortable and, because of the twist in the wire used, unusually secure.

This is a perfect complement to the necklace, perfect for a wedding, a prom, or any special occasion (or, if you are like me, you might wear them "just because"). These earrings come wrapped in tissue in an elegant silver satin drawstring gift bag.

Vintage Rhinestone Box Clasp Reinvented for Color Violette

I love rhinestones. I love their shimmer and glow and the many colors and finishes they come in. I also love taking old vintage pieces and making them more than what they were. How fortunate I am, then, to have found some very old (1930s through 1950s) clasp that needed my special care.

Violette is one of these fortunate baubles. It is a two strand clasp with an amazing amount of fine detail. It is one of the older clasps from the 1940s with that era's eye to charm and decoration. this clasp was missing all it's stones by the time it got to me. It probably had white (clear) rhinestones, but I have used ruby red, dark amethyst, and aurora borealis rhinestones instead. The red and amethyst are themselves also vintage but never before used. This is a very sturdy clasp.

The bottom and sides show some wear mostly in one corner. Material is silver (or possibly rhodium) plate over base metal. Back of the box says "Made in USA Pat. Pend."

Length not including the loops: 3/4 inch - 19 mm
Width: 7/16 inch - 12 mm

Belle Epoque Bead Netting Bell and Clapper earrings Orange You Glad

These brilliant and sparkly earrings are the third pair in my latest line of one of a kind and limited edition art jewelry works. They are made by first weaving a strip of bead netting which is then turned and the edges woven together and cinched to top to create a wonderful bell shape. I then add the embellishment - the bell's freely dangling clapper.

For this pair I've used a dark rose Swarovski faceted pendant with an Aurora Borealis finish and a Swarovski jonquil AB faceted bicone. The 11/0 seed beads are an AB silverlined orange and silverlined grass green. The sterling silver SlipLess French earwires are both comfortable and secure.

These earrings are about 1.5 in. / 35 mm from loop to the end of the dangle. They come wrapped in an elegant drawstring gift bag in silver accented with a colored tissue.

Bead Netting Necklace based on my Cometary Dawn Necklace Tutorial and Instructions PDF download from email

The original prototype has been sold, but a tutorial based on that design can be yours. While Cometary Dawn featured sunrise colors (with a hint turquoise sky) this tutorial uses a different set of colors that you are free to change as you see fit. This is an intermediate level tutorial and assumes some familiarity with at least some kind of needle work. Granted I did teach this in a face to face class to complete novices, but it took much longer than I had anticipated!

This tutorial teaches 3 bead and 5 bead netting which are done in two stages. In fact, if you only complete the first stage (and the third stage that is the creation of the fastener) you will still have a lovely wearable work of art. In a way, this tutorial gives you a pattern for two necklaces for the price of one.

As usual, I have written highly detailed instructions and have included several figures to guide you along as well as the basic pattern and a close-up shot of Cometary Dawn. New to this tutorial are my almost realistic bead images. They are exactly in proportion to standard Japanese 11/0 seed beads (although the pattern and diagrams are pictured without thread pulled tight so as to delineate the process clearly. This tuorial is four pages including instructions, figures and illustrations.

Seaside Sunrise Beadweaving Earrings

I designed a somewhat abstract an impression of sunrise at the beach for this pair of earrings. They drape gracefully at 3 inches in length with a special embellishment of three flat squares of shell threaded onto three loops. As the sun rises it chases away the dark night which is represented by a Swarovski peacock bicone crystal and iridescent black seed beads. I use argentium sterling silver slipless French earwires for the best in security and comfort but can switch to post studs at your request.

The stitch is a Russian variation on that mainstay of beadweaving, the Peyote stitch.

Flaming Sun Necklace OOAK Beadweaving

Summer is bright sunshine lasing the greater part of the day; warm colors, light clothing. Flaming sun necklace is the beadwoven interpretation of Summer. The colors are bright and warm and necklace is itself light and airy in design and weight.

Reaching out like wings from the faceted carnelian briolette are the centerpieces woven in a Russian variation of Peyote stitch using vintage (c. 1930) transparent yellow and orange 2-cut seed beads. The two pairs of chain are narrow flat peyote using beads of two sizes (6/0 in silverlined orange and 11/0 in gilt lined pale salmon) interspersed with tigers eye xhips. The fastening is a transparent pale salmon pink Czech Druk and 11/0 seed bead loop.

Length (inner loop): 18 inches / 45.70 cm

Flaming Sun comes nested in colored tissue in ensconed in an elegant silver satin drawstring gift bag.

Coral Reef Branched Fringe Beaded Earrings

She liked to make a dramatic entrance, reveling in the spotlight of center stage. She could carry off the unlikely combination of subtle whimsy and brilliant elegance and it didn't matter if she was at work or at the theatre. These are the earrings that blend all these attributes in fanciful style.

There is no coral in these earrings but the branched fringe technique is often called coraling. And, as coral itself often grown in reefs, so is this fringe emerging from a reef flat body woven in the Russian variation of Peyote that I use for my Shawl Style earrings.

On The Beach - Statement Necklace

On the beach in a tropical paradise, the blue waves roll in against golden sand, shells and pearls abound and farther inland the sand gives way to dark green grasses. One of the hallmarks of many of my more recent works is my prediliction for using jewelry as both canvas and paint and this work is exactly that. Using several beadweaving techniques I have painted an interpretive image of an idyllic, if also imaginary, tropical beach using thousands of glass beads, many freshwater pearls, and one stunning, hand carved shell.

The beading techniqes include two variations of tubular Peyote, Ruth's Twist, bead netting and free-form Peyote. the finished length as measured along the inside is about 21 inches. The fastening is a sturdy bead and loop closure using a faceted Czech fire polished crystal bead with an AB (aurora borealis) finish.

I was hoping to include a tropical orchid but I ran out of time (this was for an Etsy Beadweavers challenge) and besides, the piece kept saying "I'm finished, stop already!"

This is necklace that wants to go out. It's absolutely perfect for a woman who wants to be noticed at the theatre, opera, dinner or any evening out. It is one of a kind, an original statement of Art Jewelry. It comes tissue wrapped in a velvet lined velvet gift bag and a certificate of authenticity signed by me, the artist.

One day the flame in the fireplace complained to all her friends that she was bored with her colors. Everyone got together and magically changed all the reds and oranges to brilliant shades of cobalt blue. Only a few spots of yellow remained.

Handmade flat lampwork beads drop down from long tubes of tube woven bugle beads and an old Czech faceted firepolished crystal bead. And it's all blue! Except for the hand painted glass decorations on the flat beads. These earring are bold, reaching 3.5 inches (almost 7 cm) from the loop in the earwires. The French earwires are sterling silver NoSlip earwires and are very comfortable and very secure. Nonetheless a pair of rubber earnuts will be included for that extra sense of security.

Grapes and Hyacinth Beaded Earrings

Summer makes me thirsty and so I tend to work with colors that make my mouth water. This pair of earrings are among my favorites for their delicious colors and bold flair. Yet despite their strong presence, they are light and secure in the ear (on the ear?) as I use both SlipLess Argentium sterling silver French earwires and a plastic earnut counterweight for balance.

The technique here is a looped variation of the branched fringe technique also known as coraling. The focal beads are blue Czech firepolished crystal beads with an aurora borealis finish, there are also Indicolite Swarovski bicone with the AB finish, grape purple seed beads, lavendar gilt lined beads and etched cylinder beads for the main work.

The drape is a bit more than 5 cm (2 inches) in length. These earrings come wrapped in colorful tissue and ensconced in a silver satin gift pouch.

Sweet and spicy and red hot earrings are just what the season wants. These are Swarovski crystal in the richest, deepest, most luscious red ever. My favorite color, it is the color of January's birthstone and February's Valentine's Day festival. Fabulous!

I used argentium sterling silver wire coiled above and through the beads for that one of a kind look that only artisan handmade can have. Sterling silver SlipLess French earwires are the finishing touch.

Unusual and unusually beautiful earrings are one of my passions and despite seeming uncomplicated, this pair is the epitome of both those qualities. I haven't seen this kind of coloring in Czech firepolish before or since. The beads are neither wholly clear nor completely translucent green. It's as if two kinds of glass tried to merge incompletely and this makes each bead completely unique.

The amethyst glass disks were hand faceted, apparently by mistake much to my good fortune, so once I've used them up it will be unlikely that I will ever be able to obtain any others.

The beads are separated by Bali sterling silver spacers and hung on fancy Bali headpins. The ear wires are SlipLess sterling silver for a secure but comfortable hold.

This wonderful necklace is one of a series that I've named for an interest in the Instellar Medium (the stuff between the stars, if you will). A dark nebula is one that astronomers recognize because its presence blocks the light of any stars that might be behind it. The night sky appears to have a dark, starless, patch.

This necklace is made of shimmery opaque black 5/0 Japanese triangle beads and matte pale dusty pink 8/0 gilt-lined seed beads. The beadweaving technique is tubular netting, a weave that forms a spiraling hollow tube of netting. The closure is a secure bead and loop using a vintage faceted firepolished Czech AB crystal bead.

One of the benefits of using a bead and loop closure is the availability of a gorgeous necklace with a secure closure that even someone with a sensitivity to metal can wear.

The International Jewelry Designers Guild had a members only design competition. We were sent a set of beads a circular flat ring in silver, and a focal bead made by Brea Moser of Enter the Flame. We were allowed to add beads but we couldn't not use everything sent us. I took this opportunity to expore some design concepts including balance, color, contrast, and technique. This gorgeous necklace was the result.

I then learned that pushing the boundaries can win you prizes for indeed this necklace took the top prize.

Beautiful Labradorite Briolette Bead Netting Earrings One of a Kind (OOAK)

Mix smoke and iridescence and you get labradorite, a beautiful, fragile gemstone that takes a great deal of skill to work with. It's one of my favorites, this fascinating combination of calcium, sodium, aluminum and silicate. This gemstone is one of the plagioclase feldspar minerals and its glimmer is actually called "labradorescence." An uncommon fluctuation of color and shimmer, labradorescence is dependent on the thickness of the slice of material. Too think or too thin and the effect is gone and one is left with a dull grey or smokey black stone.

This pair of briolettes are perfectly cut, faceted and polished to show off this mineral's special effects and I have matched them with matte iridescent gray and sparkling iridescent silvery crystal delica seed beads woven in circular netting technique. The French earwires are SlipLess in Argentium sterling silver, noted for its resistance to tarnish.

The drape is approximately 1.25 inches (3.2 cm) n length. These earrings come wrapped in colorful tissue and ensconced in a silver satin gift pouch.

Huang is the Chinese female firebird, a flower in her own garden, she takes flight and blossoms in wondrous beauty.

This bracelet is my entry into the April Etsybeadweavers "Fire and Flowers" challenge. My interpretation is this handwoven freeform sculptural figure of Huang in flight, carrying her garden with her. The side extensions represent green leaves against a pale watery ground. The firebisrd itself was inspired by a painting of the Firebird constellation of the southern sky.

The techniques include freeform versions of Peyote, Brick Stitch and netting for the centerpiece and two drop Peyote for the leaf extensions. Her heart is a baroque freshwater pearl of exquisite natural color. The fastener is a strong bead and loop using a vintage Siam AB Swarovski faceted round crystal bead.

Length is 17.5 cm (just shy of 7 inches).

Huang comes nested in colored tissue in ensconed in an elegant silver satin drawstring gift bag.
