A cluster of pink pearls blooms on a vine of hand-crocheted fine silver wire. The flexible crocheted mesh is suspended by a slender sterling chain.

The centerpiece is about 3.5" (9 cm) long; the finished necklace is about 18" (45.5 cm).

This design is also available in gold, or with white pearls, or various other gemstones. Please contact me if you are interested in any of these variations and I will create a piece just for you. I have some labradorite that would look lovely in this design...

A faceted oval of aqua blue amazonite is stitched tightly into a hand crocheted binding of fine silver mesh. Paler streaks run through the color, like clouds in a blue sky.

Stone measures approximately 25 x 35 mm and has large facets on both sides. It hangs from a slender 18" sterling silver chain, which can be cut to your measure up to 21" or so.

The mesh is fine silver (.999); the chain and clasp are sterling silver (.925). Also available in oxidized silver. Add $5 for a piece made in goldfill.

I have a handful of these stones - yours may vary slightly in color and markings. All are the same size and shape.

Birds make their nests using materials they find in their environment. They use twigs, leaves, feathers and grasses, even hair, mud or bits of trash to build safe shelters for their delicate eggs. Some are very simple, and some are so densely and elaborately woven that they are used for many generations.

As real birds do, I make these nests out of bits I find lying around. I collect all the scraps from unsuccessful projects and experiments in wire crochet. When there's enough, I crumple up the leftover bits of mesh and bind them tightly together into a nest. Former "mistakes" find new life this way as nesting material - it lets me feel free to try new ideas!

A single freshwater pearl egg nestles snugly in a randomly crocheted, dense mass of fine silver wire. The nest is about 3/4 inch (2 cm) in diameter with a pearl about 8-9 mm long, hung on a slim sterling chain, 18" or cut to your measure. Chain style may vary from the one pictured.

Also available in oxidized silver or goldfill. Variations are possible on the number of pearls, just ask.

The symbolism of the bird's nest makes it a great gift. It's perfect to celebrate a pregnancy. People order them for their mothers, grandmothers or sisters with one egg for each sibling in the family. One bride gave pendants to her mother and mother-in-law on her wedding day to commemorate the couple "leaving the nest". And another bride chose one to wear for her wedding, moved by the fact that they are made using pieces from former mistakes. Both she and her husband, her childhood sweetheart, had made the mistake of marrying the wrong people before they found each other again and made their home together. As real birds do, I started making these nests out of bits I found lying around. I collect all the scraps from my unsuccessful projects and experiments in wire crochet. When there's enough, I crumple up the leftover bits of mesh and bind them tightly together into a nest. Former "mistakes" find new life this way as nesting material - it lets me feel free to try new ideas!

This nest is made of 14/20 goldfill wire and contains three little freshwater pearl eggs. 3/4 inch (2 cm) in diameter, hung on a slim chain, 18" or a couple of inches longer or shorter if you prefer. All metal used is 14/20 goldfill.

My nesting materials are the bits of crocheted wire I inevitably collect when I make a mistake on another piece. Random scraps of wire crochet are woven densely together to create these nests. I hope they, too, are enjoyed for many generations.

These nest earrings, made of 14/20 goldfill, are about 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) in diameter, hung on goldfill earwires. Total length about 1 inch.

A vintage faceted glass chandelier crystal is stitched tightly into a lacy binding of hand-crocheted pure silver mesh. The silver is slightly oxidized for a darker finish, or left bright as shown in photos 3 and 4. Please specify at checkout which finish you prefer.

About 5/8" (1.5 cm) diameter. Size may vary slightly due to differences in vintage stock on hand. Please note that these crystals were originally made for lighting, not for jewelry. Although I do try to pick and match the nicest ones, they are not absolutely flawless. Also, there are two small holes in each one from when they were linked together with other crystals on a chandelier.

The last photo shows Katie, who chose these earrings to wear on her wedding day as "something old". The earrings she wears are her own; you will receive a new pair, made just for you. Thanks to Katie for sending me the photo. What a lovely bride! :)

Birds make their nests using materials they find in their environment. They use twigs, leaves, feathers, grasses, hair and mud to build safe shelters for their delicate eggs. Some are very simple, and some are so densely and elaborately woven that they are used for many generations.

My nesting materials are the bits of crocheted wire I inevitably collect when I make a mistake on another piece. Random scraps of wire crochet are woven densely together to create these nests. I hope they, too, are enjoyed for many generations.

A single turquoise* egg (about 1 cm long) nestles snugly in a randomly crocheted, dense mass of oxidized fine silver wire. (all the pointy ends are safely tucked away. promise.) About 3/4 inch (almost 2 cm) in diameter, hung on a slim sterling chain, 18" or a bit longer or shorter if you prefer.

The symbolism of the bird's nest makes it a great gift.
It's perfect to celebrate a pregnancy.
Perfect for a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a bride...

One bride gave pendants to her mother and mother-in-law on her wedding day to commemorate the couple "leaving the nest".

Another bride chose one to wear for her wedding, moved by the fact that they are made using pieces from former mistakes. Both she and her husband, her childhood sweetheart, had made the mistake of marrying the wrong people before they reunited and made their home together. Three pearls were for her three new loving step-sons. What a lovely story!

*This stone and most other turquoise on the market these days is stabilized. It is natural turquoise that has been processed with resin to make it harder and more durable.

This is an unusual piece, a vintage peachy-pink hexagonal faceted glass stone. It is stitched tightly into a bezel or binding of golden mesh and hung on doubled loops of chain.

The total length (circumference) of the necklace is 19 inches (48 cm). The length of the chain can be modified upon request. The "stone" is 1 3/4" (4.5 cm) long from point to point and 1 1/4" (3 cm) high.

Birds make their nests using materials they find in their environment. They use twigs, leaves, feathers, grasses, hair and mud to build safe shelters for their delicate eggs. Some are very simple, and some are so densely and elaborately woven that they are used for many generations.

My nesting materials are the bits of crocheted wire I inevitably collect when I make a mistake on another piece. Random scraps of wire crochet are woven densely together to create these nests. I hope they, too, are enjoyed for many generations.

Three little freshwater pearl eggs nestle snugly in a randomly crocheted, dense mass of fine silver wire. (all the pointy ends are safely tucked away. promise.) About 3/4 inch (2 cm) in diameter, hung on a slim sterling chain, 17" or cut to your measure.

The symbolism of the bird's nest makes it a great gift.
It's perfect to celebrate a pregnancy.

One bride gave pendants to her mother and mother-in-law on her wedding day to commemorate the couple "leaving the nest".

As real birds do, I make these nests out of bits I find lying around. Wire crochet projects do not always turn out as planned. When something goes wrong, I save the leftover bits of mesh. When I have enough scraps, I crumple them up and bind them tightly together into a nest. Former "mistakes" find new life this way as nesting material - it lets me feel free to try new ideas!

This nest is made of fine silver (.999) and contains a single freshwater pearl egg. (All the pointy ends are safely tucked away. Promise.) It is about 3/4 inch (2 cm) in diameter with a pearl about 8-9 mm long, hung on a slim sterling chain*, 18" or cut to your measure.

This particular bracelet fits a 7.5 inch wrist. Other sizes can be custom ordered; just specify your measurement and allow up to a week for me to complete your piece. (Buttons may vary.)

Freshwater pearls in a membrane of silver, spun from a single strand of fine silver wire. Its organic nature recalls an insect's cocoon or the egg sac of a strange sea creature.

Finished with an extender chain and handformed hook clasp, both in sterling silver. Adjustable between 15 and 18 inches (36-48 cm).
