I fused together an opaque red glass backing with dichroic star cutouts under a layer of clear glass in the kiln. next, I used a glass grinder to shape the glass into a square, and finally the glass was put back in the kiln to fire-polish. a simple adjustable ring base was added to turn the tile into a funky, one-of-a-kind cocktail ring.

the centerpiece for this vintage-style necklace is a big, cushion shaped faceted glass bead with a lustre coating on one side (this is a vintage bead, and there is some light scratching in the coating, but I think it just adds to the vintage feel of the piece). the focal bead is surrounded by a variety of sterling silver beads securely chained together with sterling silver wore. two lavender lustre-coated faceted glass rondelles join the beaded part of the necklace to textured sterling silver chain finished with a sterling silver lobster claw clasp. the necklace measures 18" in all.

I gave them a natural, curved shape, and. they have been oxidized to bring out the delicate vein pattern. the raised areas were polished to a high shine. they are about an inch tall. the earhooks are sterling silver.
