For these cakes I got inspired by the elegant Venetian lace you see at the base, it does look like the decorations around Venice's windows and it makes me feel I am there again, where I lived for several years.

The lace makes me think about Ca' D'oro building (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ca'_d'Oro) for example, such a great work of architecture, so elegant and richly decorated!
