May I introduce Amos!

This tomte is a product of my imagination. A mix of a Finnish/Scandinavian tomtenisse (tonttu), an elf and a garden gnome. He is a Christmas decoration or if treated well, a guardian of your home and family for the whole year (however I can not be held responsible for what he decides to do if he moves into your house...).

Amos wears a dress made from a 1960's Christmas fabric combined with a pair of stripey socks. The mittens are made of synthetic felt, the wool scarf is hand knitted. He measures about 60 cm from tip to toe (23"). His face is embroidered. He is stuffed with polyfill.

A big appliquéd patchwork apple decorates this linen cushion.

The back is made from checkered red and white cotton fabric. The cushion closes with a button in the back and has lovely polkadot ribbon in the corners. The insert has a 100% polyester filling and is machine washable. Hand wash is recommended for the cover. Iron from reverse.

Measures approximately 40x40 cm (15"x15")

A little joy - mini art quilt

This quilt was created a grey day when I needed a little cheering up! I hope it will bring joy to you too!

The little wall quilt was made from natural unbleached 100% linen. I appliquéd the tree and the bird with black cotton thread on my sewing machine. The aqua hill was made from a vintage fabric. Free motion quilted and hand stitched flying track. Embellished with black crochet lace and a vintage mother of pearl button. I used polyester batting and backed the quilt with cotton fabric. The binding is black and white gingham. Signed in the back.

Measurements: 26,5 x 28 cm (10" x 11")

The quilt can be framed or hanged like it is. It has a hanging loop in the back.

This little quilt is part of a small collection of umbrella quilts that I made to celebrate the weather this winter :) But it will fit any season!

The raindrops and the umbrella were machine appliquéd on white linen fabric that used to be a fine table cloth. I then hand quilted it. I made this little cottage from cotton fabrics and stuffed it with polyfill. The chimney is a piece of ribbon. I appliquéd the window and door on my sewing machine. I added a button for door knob. Measurements: 19 x 7,5 cm (7,5" x 3").

Snake Summer - window art quilt

This quilt is meant to be hanged in a window. The light gives the quilted snake a stained glass effect and brings out the structure of the fabrics. I used cotton and linen fabrics in different shades of white and light blue for the background and greens and blues for the snake. Some brand new, some with a long history. You can see a mended piece of an old tea towel if you click on the thumbnails!

The snake is quilted in the ditch. I used white linen for backing the quilt. I embroidered some words that means Summer to me in the three languages I use every day. tång (seaweed), gräs (grass) and orm (snake) in Swedish, lokki (seagull) in Finnish and daffodil in English.

The quilt is 36 inch (91 cm) long and 34 inches (86 cm) wide, not including the hanging loops.
