Many men like a good cigar along with a drink. My husband does (He does NOT smoke in the house!). This is one of his wood cigar boxes that I transformed into a clock.
Button bottles of wine and champagne are in the top corners with a beer stein, a drink shaker and a martini on the bottom. The clock movement is quartz and needs one AA battery which is included. The hands are gold tone.
I have placed a sawtooth hanger on the back but the clock will stand by itself if that's what is chosen. The lid does open for access to the clock mechanism and to insert the battery.

This one was enjoyable to piece together with items that have been with me for a long time.
The center piece is from a vintage necklace of mine and has a blue crystal in the center. Above it is a vintage shell shaped button. Tiny other buttons and beads are along the bottom. The base is a 1 1/4" (3 1/4cm) medium brown button which is new. Brass, silver, goldtone metals are represented.

Here's another special print of Norman Rockwell's. This one is titled "Private Concert" and was first printed in February of 1923. A loving grandfather is playing for his dancing grand-daughter. I've embellished the print with grandfatherly symbols and little girl touches.
The 12 o'clock position is held by a wooden music button. The base is an 8" (20cm) solid wood tray. The clock movement is quartz with gold tone hands. One AA battery is needed and is supplied. This clock is easily hung from a notch in the back.
This will make a wonderful addition to a Rockwell collector's wall or for that special guy!

I made 2 of these, almost identical, and the one I wore I sold off my jacket! It really looks great on denim, on a lapel, wherever.

Oh, the great papers that are made today! This little clock is covered on the front with a wonderful, retro feel, 60s inspired flower design paper. Round Is A Shape ACEO

I love the question & answer "Are you in shape?...Round is a shape!" I thought of that when I was reorganizing my papers and found so many with dots and circles. I layered over 14 papers and further embellished them with more round things~buttons,beads,jump rings and jewelry findings.
This was all placed upon a slice of balsa wood and will add color and texture to its location. Ironically I chose a square checked paper for the backing.
ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions & Originals." They are miniature works of art with one constant- they will always measure 2.5" x 3.5". I will never repeat this piece.
What a great and inexpensive way to buy original art!

Paisley Abstract Floral Clock

Once again, I found a china plate I loved but wouldn't want to spend a meal with! I love the hand drawn feeling of the flowers and shapes.
This 8 1/4" (21cm) plate is rimmed in a paint stroke brown. The inside has a light beige floor with the effect of hand painted stars, flowers, leaves and paisley squiggles in pale blue,coral and green. I embellished with buttons and beads scattered around. The pale coral ladybug is in the 12:00 position.
The clock mechanism is quartz and needs 1 AA battery which is included. The minute & hour hands are black matte and the second hand is goldtone. There is a notch in the back for hanging.

I had a scrap of this red, white and blue "aged" flag paper and when I saw the symmetry and the star position, it screamed "Make me into a clock". I always listen to my supplies so here it is!

I love this plate with the white flowers on the black background but it's busy-ness called for a clock, not to eat from it!
I centered multiple mother-of-pearl buttons upon many of the flowers and on some of the dots sprinkled around. The black hands caused a dilemma since they make actual time telling an issue so I placed some teeny white buttons to make them stand out.

This is a personal favorite. I just kept adding bits and pieces to the bottom of this 6" (15cm) terra cotta tile. There are many buttons, beads, stones, jewelry findings, watch pieces and more. The 12 o'clock position is taken up by an old earring which is vintage.
The clock mechanism is quartz and the necessary AA battery is included. The hands are gold tone. There is a notch in the back for hanging. The easel in the photos is just for display purposes.

Here's another in my group of puzzle pins. This piece has lime green, sky blue and bits of black, white and pink. I've embellished it with blue, green and clear buttons as well as jewelry findings,beads and a snap. The dangling piece is the end of an old beaded bracelet.
It measures about 2" by 1 3/4" (5 by 4 cm) without the dangle. A standard pinback is the closure.

The base of this clock is an old CD. It is covered with a great circle and line paper and all sorts of buttons are scattered around. The wine colored square button marks the 12:00 position. There are clear buttons and paper buttons and plastic buttons and even 2 felt buttons.

We know the usual materials that buttons are made of but these magnets push the limits! The bases are paper (cardboard- so they are firm) buttons. Atop each is a felt button and then they are further adorned with "regular" buttons. Great colors will add a splash wherever you decide to use them.
Strong magnets are adhered to the back. The smallest is 1 1/4" (3 1/2cm) across and the largest is 2" (5cm).

Wood Charger Clock

Here it is!!! This clock was one of my featured items in a book titled Button!Button! published by Lark Books this past April. It was a very exciting experience to be published and I am now ready to part with this clock which was also on the back cover of the book.

The base is an 11" (28cm)solid wood charger plate. The inside rim is filled with real wood and wood tone buttons, many vintage. Four toggle buttons mark the 3,6,9 & 12 spots. (These can easily be removed if you desire a cleaner look.) A sprinkling of beads here and there completes it. The clock hands are black and the mechanism is quartz. There is a notch in the back for hanging.
The first three pictures show the grain of the wood which is apparent when you see the clock. The photos in the book make the grain disappear.
If you'd like, I'll sign it!!! Just kidding!

All these buttons just fell into place so nicely! It gives me a retro feel yet thoroughly modern.
The gray fabric covered button and the black floral are vintage buttons. They are complimented by other buttons, beads and even a tiny snap. This one measures about 1 1/2" across (3 1.2cm) and top to bottom. The pin back is a standard disc form.

The center vintage button was an easy inspiration for this pin. (It has been in my possession for over 30 years.) It is mounted onto a brass oval disc and surrounded by various gold toned beads. It looks wonderful on black or brown or...well, any color!
It measures 2" (5cm) across and 1 1/4" (3 1/4 cm) top to bottom. A standard pin back is securely attached.
