The gemstone in this ring is an Amethyst. Now I know what you're thinking, "Where's the purple?" This is a very pale green Amethyst with just the slightest bit of a green tint. There is so much sparkle to this stone and none of it shows up in my pictures. Why do I have so many Tourmaline rings in my shop? Because they come in such a variety of colors, from light green to blue, then pink and red and even a combination of colors. In fact I don't think any two are ever exactly alike. The one featured in this ring is a 6x3mm, .34carat baguette. The color is a dusty rose pink that will twinkle on your finger.

For a long time I didn't understand why Rubies and Garnets weren't interchangeable. They are both red, right? Then I got my first Rubies. Yes, they are red but it is such a luscious red. Ripe raspberries come to mind. For thousands of years, the ruby has been considered one of the most valuable gemstones on Earth. It is relatively rare, has magnificent color and excellent hardness. This one is an 8x6mm oval. It is 1.48 carats and is a beautiful raspberry red.

This ring features a Fancy color Tourmaline. Tourmaline is such an amazing work of nature because you just never know what color they will be. This one is gold with flashes of green. Sometimes I think one end is darker than the other but then I move it just a little and the color changes. While the color is difficult to describe, the sparkle and inner light are not. I just wish I could capture that sparkle in my pictures! Bursts of light bounce around inside of this gem. It is 8x6mm and 1.25 lovely carats.

This ring features a beautiful Golden Citrine. This is a really special gem and I would like to explain why. The top of a gem is called the 'table' and the point under the gem is called the 'culet'. This gemstone is very deep, meaning that there is a lot of distance from the table to the culet. When you gaze into the gem, it seems to go on forever. The facets all along the side(pavilion) send light bouncing all around the inside of the gem. This sparkling beauty is 10x7mm and 1.97 carats. I wish my pictures could capture that sparkle!

What is it about Peridot that just makes me smile? I know that I love to wear this perky green color. The Peridot featured in this ring is a 6mm round, .90 carat, sparkling gemstone. The Peridot is the birthstone for August and is thought by some to bring peace, success and good fortune to the wearer. It is also supposed to attract love and calm anger while dispelling negative emotions. That's a lot to ask from this little gemstone! I can promise that it will sparkle on your finger!

Ancient legend says that tourmaline is found in all colors because it traveled along a rainbow and gathered all of the rainbow's colors. Tourmalines are fascinating to me because no two ever seem to be the exact same color. This one is a wonderful raspberry pink. It is a darker pink at the fat end of the pear and gets lighter as you near the tip. This pear is a 9x6mm, 1.35 carat beauty.

You are looking at perhaps the prettiest Blue Iolite I've ever had the pleasure of offering. Iolites often have inclusions. I love these because they are full of character. But this one is so clear and such a beautiful blue that you have to marvel at nature. How does something so pretty come out of the ground? This blue just makes you want to dive right into the gemstone. This oval gemstone is 9x7mm and 1.46 carats.

It is surrounded by three bands of sterling silver. The outside bands are twisted silver wire and the inside is square wire. This ring was handmade and is a size 8. If green is your favorite color, what gemstone do you look for? Emeralds are certainly nice, but most of us don't want to wear our life's savings on our fingers. I would like to present a very nice alternative, a green Topaz. Instead of an emerald green, it's a deep luscious green. You know, the color of the crayon you would choose if you're coloring grass. Some of my pictures show a touch of yellow but that's just reflection. This Topaz is so well faceted that it was reflecting everything around it! It is a 7x7mm cushion cut that is 1.70 carats of sparkling color.

This ring features a brilliant white Topaz. The 11x9mm clear gemstone is nothing but sparkles! That's 3.43 carats to dance on your finger. Sometimes, when I design a ring, I'm all about straight lines. Then, there are the times I want the silver to flow around the finger. This ring is all about curves. We start off with a beautiful sparkling Tourmaline. The color of this gemstone is somewhere between a yellow and a green. It reminds me of green tea or a bottle of my favorite Chardonnay. Tourmalines are special because each one is such a unique color. This wonderful pear is 9x6mm and 1.04 carats.

You don't often see me working with cabochons but this Opal really spoke to me. It is a white Australian Opal with wonderful inner fire. There's an inner red fire with lots of blue and yellow flecks. It's hard to catch the fire of an opal in a picture and as you can see it looks different from picture to picture. This totally natural (not a doublet or triplet) stunning stone is 10x8mm.

The sterling silver ring is handmade. I went with a chunky style to compliment the Opal. One either side of the stone you will find my brocade like pattern of twisted wire and rounded wire. The band is 8mm wide and made of heavy 18gauge silver. Life is too short to wear ordinary jewelry!

There are so many kinds of Garnets, and they come in all shades of red to orange to raspberry. This ring features an Orissa Garnet from the Orissa Region of India. It is a beautiful red that isn't too dark. This 9x7mm emerald cut Garnet is 2.56carats.

Finally after months and months of waiting I have some new Prasiolite, also called Green Amethyst, gemstones. A green Amethyst is a very durable gem that is great for everyday wear. Two bands come together, then split apart, circle and embrace this sparkling green Peridot gemstone to form one asymmetrical ring. The point of the pear shaped gem is reflected in the 'V' shapes formed on either side of the stone and down one side of the ring. If you are looking for the unusual, off the beaten path, gemstone, this one might be for you. This ring features a faceted Brazilian Black Needle Quartz. The needles are actually pieces of tourmaline. The gem itself is similar to a drop of rainwater, not clear but reflecting bits of color. There's even a sort of glitter effect. Running all through this are black needles shooting across the stone. The overall effect is gray/black with an inner shimmer. This gem is 8.8x6.8mm and 1.70carats.

What is it about the sensuous blue of a Sapphire that draws us in? There is something mysterious about a Sapphire. Kings wore them as a defense from harm and some believed that they attracted divine favor. This one is a dark blue Burma Sapphire. It is an 8x6mm oval that is 1.47 carats. Swimming pool blue! That's the color of this darling gemstone. Think summer and you'll be ready to dive right in. The cool blue with sterling silver is a perfect combination. Did you know that the name 'Garnet' can be applied to six similar mineral species or combination of these minerals? That's why you see everything from dark red to raspberry pink! This particular garnet is a Rhodlite Garnet. This comes from the Greek word meaning rose stone. It really applies to this particular garnet because it is a lovely raspberry red. The 14x7mm marquise is 2.86 carats. It has a beautiful rich color that seems to have an inner light.

When I think of Tennessee one color always comes to mind, orange. Yes, we have beautiful Fall foliage on the sides of the mountains but the orange I'm talking about is football orange! Tennessee orange is everywhere and worn with pride. The gem in this ring is that intense orange. It is a Fire Opal and it just glows. It's more about the inner light in this gem than the sparkle. At 6mm and .70 carats, it's perfect for everyday and game day wear.

Every day we hear about the dangers our military men and women are facing. Maybe their heroic deeds were on my mind when I designed this ring. It is a 12x8mm pear that is 3.14 carats. This gemstone is well faceted and the color in my pictures is very true. I just wish I could capture the sparkle! There are several things going on in this Sterling Silver ring. First there is a beautiful marquise shaped Garnet sparkling in the center. The Garnet is 12x5mm and is about 1.70 carats. That's the newest form of faceting and it gives the stone tremendous sparkle. The facets on the underside of the gem are curved versus the normal flat cut. Did you know that long ago the Greeks believed that wearing topaz would give you strength and make you invisible? I can tell you that your hand will definitely not be invisible with this topaz flashing on your finger! The sky blue of the topaz trillion inspired this ring. The brilliant deep blue topaz is an 8x8mm, 2.06 carat trillion cut. A trillion cut is a triangle but with curved sides. This stone is beautifully faceted. You can look deep into the gem and see the light just bouncing around.

I used to think that Rubies and Garnets were interchangeable. If you wanted a red gem, either one would do. Now having worked with them side by side, I can tell you that there is a real difference. A Garnet has a dark rich red but a Ruby glows! There is an inner fire to this gem that I just couldn't capture in my pictures but I promise will be there in person. This lovely precious gemstone is a 6mm round that is 1.09 carats of luscious red.

Morganite is part of the beryl family along with Emerald and Aquamarine. It is a pastel peachy rose gemstone that was named by gemologist George Fredrick Kunz, of Tiffany Co. fame. He named the gem after J.P. Morgan back in 1911. Kunz recognized the value and rarity of a pink gemstone and brought Morganite into the mainstream. This Morganite was mined in Brazil and is a 8xmm, .80carat pear.

Morganite is know as the stone of compassion and is said to bring calm and well being.

Ametrine is a naturally occurring gemstone mined in Bolivia. They are half Amethyst and half Citrine, hence the name "Ametrine". These beautiful gemstones are half purple and half yellow. This bi-color effect is known in the gem world as “color zoning”. The color zoning in amethyst is completely natural. Because of this, no two ametrine will ever be exactly alike. The emerald cut shows off this phenomenon. At 9x7mm and 2.60carats this gemstone will be a delight on your hand.

What is that gem you're wearing? That will be the question you will be asked if you wear this pendant. The answer is, blue Kyanite. Kyanite is a lovely gemstone that resembles the blue of a Sapphire. You often find light blue stripes running through the gem. This one is a 14x10mm, 6.96carat oval that is a wonderful rich blue on the sides and light blue down the middle. Kyanite is not as hard as a Sapphire and it should be store away from sharp jewelry that could scratch it.

Some people believe that Kyanite is supposed to be ideal for calming the mind, controlling anxiety and getting rid of mental and spiritual confusion. When violent thoughts travel through the mind the Kyanite gem stone is believed to dissolve anger and frustration. I believe that it will sparkle when worn around your neck!

This ring features a concave cut Amethyst. When I first heard the term 'concave cut' I couldn't imagine what that would look like. Well, I can now tell you that it looks like major sparkle that goes on forever. Looking into the gem is like looking into an infinity mirror, it just goes on and on. Normally a facet is a flat cut. In this technique the facets on the bottom side of the gem curve in. This makes a larger surface to reflect light. More of the gemstone is lost in the process so the gems tend to cost a bit more. This technique gives a whole new look to faceted gemstones. This one is 9x7mm and 1.75carats. I wish my pictures could highlight this special gem! At the risk of repeating myself, I love Tourmaline! I love them because they come in so many different colors. This beautiful pear is a yellow green. It is more yellow than a Peridot but doesn't have the gold of a Citrine. It is unique! It measures 7x5mm. I don't have the exact carat weight for this one but my best guess is around .75carats. The sparkle that comes off this small gem is amazing. You can see the facets in my pictures, but in person, you will be blown away by the sparkle.

The sterling silver band is handmade. It is a very narrow and easy to wear 2mm. It is made in two layers and the top layer forms a V around the pear. This would be a great ring to stack.

This ring features a large Aquamarine gemstone. Did you know that Aquamarine comes from the same gem family, beryls, as emeralds and morganite? Unlike an emerald, Aquamarines rarely have flaws. This one is crystal clear with a hint of blue. It is 10x8mm and 2.56 carats. My pictures show you the facets but unfortunately not the amazing sparkle that is the results of those facets.

Be Still My Heart Pendant

This Sterling Silver Heart pendant may be the second in a series or I may never make another one. This sounds odd, but I just don't normally make anything with a heart. For some reason I've now made two! This pendant features a silver heart that is free moving on the bail. The heart, however can only move about halfway. This means that the heart will always be at a jaunty angle. The Sterling heart is enhanced with a green Tourmaline baguette. The pendant is around 1 1/2 inches top to bottom. The pendant comes on an 18 inch black necklace with a sterling silver lobster claw clasp. The necklace was made in Italy. The pendant was made by me and has my artist stamp on the bail. Even though I have now made two heart pendants you can see that they are each unique. I never make the same thing twice. If you own one of my pieces, you own an original. Green Garnet. I know that you are thinking that Garnets are red and you would be right most of the time. This one however is special. It is the prettiest grass green. Green Garnets are much harder to find in nature than the red ones. You also don't see very large stones. This Garnet is a 6x4mm marque. The heart is free moving inside the bail. I believe that jewelry is an emotion that you wear. Looking down and seeing a little sparkle on your finger will hopefully bring a smile. This light purple Amethyst is willing to do just that! A 6x4mm octagon cut, this gemstone adds a pop of color and sparkle to the unique ring.

This is such a happy gemstone! It's a golden yellow color, just like the sun. The round cut traps the light inside of this gem, bouncing it from side to side. I think you will be amazed when you see it in person. You can see all the little facets in my pictures but once again, I failed to capture the incredible sparkle. The golden Citrine is a 9mm round and 2.71 carats.

As I sat at my workbench, this darling pink Tourmaline was whispering to me. I had intended to make something else, using a different gemstone, but this Tourmaline was persistent. It wasn't loud, just insistent that it wanted to mix with the silver in a very lace-like way. Very tiny silver beads swirl on either side of the gem. The 3mm wide sterling band is then circled with a delicate wire. In the center of all this silver activity is the pale pink Tourmaline. It is a 8x6mm oval and 1.42 carats. This well faceted gemstone has great sparkle. You can see the many facets in my pictures. The color is the palest pink and not quite as dark as some of my pictures show. The sparkle is there but doesn't really show in the pictures.

Would you like to have a sparkling yellow diamond that is over 1 carat? Well, sure, what girl wouldn't? But at what price? This just might be a better solution. This ring features a wonderful yellow Aquamarine. I know, you think I've lost my senses, but Aquamarines do come in yellow. The color of an Aquamarine is determined by the atomic charge and location of the iron atoms in the mineral. There is amazing sparkle in this stone and it is a refreshing light yellow. The pear shaped gem is 9x6mm and 1.15carats. It is beautifully clear (even thought some of my pictures make the stone look cloudy) and will twinkle like crazy on your finger.

Garnets come in many shades of red and are often accused of not having much luster and sparkle. Well, I'm happy to offer a Garnet the proves that accusation wrong! This is a Rhodolite Garnet that sparkles like someone turned on a light deep inside the stone. The beautiful red has pink undertones. It is 7x7mm and 1.28carats of red shimmer.

This Sterling Silver ring features a pink Tourmaline. I would call this a bubblegum pink. As with most Tourmalines there are some inclusions in the stone. You can see them in my pictures. Keep in mind that the pictures were taken with a 10x macro lens, cropped, then further blown up on Etsy! In real life they are just a tiny part of the charm of a tourmaline. The gem is well cut and full of sparkle. This sweet gem is 9x7mm and is 2.04 carats of pink.

This ring features an octagon cut Golden Citrine that just radiates sunshine and sparkle. Octagon and rectangle cut gemstones aren't traditionally the cuts with the most sparkle but this one holds its own. It has a deep cut which means that it is thick from the top of the gem to the point. This gives the light lots of room to bounce around and shimmer back at you. The gem is 10x8mm. I don't have the exact carat weight on this one but is around 3 carats or more.

The sterling silver band is handmade. It starts on one side of the gem as a wide solid piece. Around the back side of the ring this piece splits into two pieces and travels on up to the gemstone. On top of this is another piece of silver that goes half way around the ring and ends in a point. The little line detail reflects the parallel lines on the opposite side of the gem. I love faceted gemstones and I've always said that my rings are all about the stone. But, that really isn't completely true because there is a whole lot of me in the metalwork. I really enjoy the craft of bending the wire and forming the silver to make a new and unique design. Soldering, using my pliers, just sitting at my workbench makes me happy! So, this ring is all about the silver metalwork.

Do you know what I love about Tourmalines? It's that you never know what color they will be. If I have ten "green" tourmalines, each one will be a different color of green. This lovely tourmaline is an olive green with a richness around the edges that gives a golden tint. No wait, in the sunlight it's more of a grass green! I wonder what color it will be on a cloudy day? I may not know what color it is, but I do know that it has plenty of sparkle. This well faceted gemstone is an 8x6mm oval and 1.22 carats.

The deep purple of this Amethyst will endure time. It is a 12x8mm, 2.45carat pear that is a wonderful deep purple with flashes of blue. It is beautifully faceted and will sparkle on your finger.

Orange Crush

Over the years, I have worked with many beautiful Citrines. They come in a wide range of lovely yellows, from lemon to golden, brandy and even champagne colored. This is my first orange Citrine. It looks like a Mandarin Garnet but without the steep price. This gem radiates color. Without even moving it, light leaps out at you. There is an inner glow, a piece of the sun. I wish you could see this one in person! My pictures do show the many facets. The color is fairly true but the gemstone is an even more intense orange than in the photos. The orange Citrine is an 8mm round and is 1.81 carats.

The handcrafted sterling silver band is 3mm wide and has a brushed texture. On top of this there is a narrow silver band that has a polished finish. Around the gemstone is a circle of twisted wire. This ring is a size 6.

Wouldn't life be fun if chocolate was one of the major daily recommended food groups? Well this chocolate colored Smoky Quartz has fewer calories and won't melt on your finger in the hot sun! This luscious gemstone is 14x10mm and 5.85 carats. Well faceted, this gem has good sparkle and a deep rich color.

I made the sterling silver band by hand. It is 4mm wide and is circled by two silver wires. These wire cross on either side of the stone giving the band a woven look.

What do you do with a beautifully clear pink Tourmaline? This one sat on my workbench for about a month. I would start to make a band but the gemstone just didn't seem happy and I would move on to other projects. Then, last week everything just clicked into place. I'm very proud to show you the results. I don't have the exact carat weight on this gemstone, but it is a 7mm triangle. The color is a true baby pink with no hint of orange. I think it's an outstanding tourmaline.
