The portraits and prices shown here are just a sample of what I do- you may request any size portrait in either black and white or color. I will quote you a price and give you an estimate of how long it will take me to finish your drawing. Prices are based on the size of the portrait, whether the portrait is in black and white or color, the number of people in the portrait, the amount of each person's body that will be visible, and the age of the people in the portrait (children are discounted).
The portraits that I sell are drawn with colored pencils on high-quality colored (usually gray) paper. I use black ink for highlights.
I work carefully with my clients to select reference photographs that will translate well into drawings. Sometimes, the best photographs don’t translate well into drawings. And other times, photos that you would never look twice at make beautiful pieces of fine art. Generally, I suggest that you select unposed images. Let’s work together to choose something that you will love forever!
DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT: Once you decide on a photo reference for me to draw, I require a 50% deposit of the purchase price. When I am finished drawing, I will notify you, at which point you can make the final 50% payment plus the cost of shipping. Upon receipt of the final 50%, I will ship the portrait to you.
FRAMING: These portraits are sold unmatted and unframed, unless you request otherwise. I sell portraits this way because the price of the matting and framing depends on the quality and style of the mat and frame- I think it is important to let the buyer decide how much they want to invest in framing. Also, selecting a mat and frame can be a very personal choice, and I want you to be as happy as possible with the finished product.
Please note that if you do not intend to invest in custom framing (i.e., you plan on buying a pre-made mat and/or frame), standard mats will cut off a quarter inch on each edge of the picture. For example, if you request a 4x6 portrait and buy a pre-cut mat meant for a 4x6 picture, the visible image will be 3.5x5.5.
