I work for Etsy. I've been using the site as a seller and artist and addict since about a month after it began, in July of 2005, and worked here two and a half years. I can answer your questions on pretty much anything to do with Etsy whatsoever, especially if it has do to with esoteric 2006 Etsy trivia.
If Etsy were college, I would be a senior right now. No, I would graduating! It's June! Time to enjoy a nice backpacking trip across Europe like the kids do these days, and then get ready to work on my master's degree.
I spend a great deal of time working on social marketing projects. Follow us on Twitter. http://twitter.com/etsy Add us on Myspace. http://myspace.com/etsy Friend us on Facebook. We're Etsy Goldstreet. Etsy on Flickr: http://flickr.com/etsylabs
I am Etsy's staff illustrator! -------
I like cognitive science, behavior studies, internet communities, algorithms that get smarter, children's book illustration from 1940-1970, attaching things onto other things, applique, drawing (a lot), barbeques in the backyard, brunch, thinking I can do everyone else's jobs (not better than them, but with them!), sticking my nose where it's not wanted, reading and most of all telling elaborate stories.
I'm from Virginia and miss it. I like to travel. I'm a mom to a toddler; the other night I sang "Car" by Built to Spill to her before she fell asleep. My husband works for Etsy but does no work whatsoever on the website itself. So, sometimes it feels like we work for two diffrent Etsys.
update: boosterseat has a print for sale! For real, I did something extracurricular and am very proud.
It's kind of awesome to think about what Etsy could be like in 2039, by the way. I for one hope we'll be able to access Etsy via a chip in our wrists or something, and then I will be able to work while riding my bike around and maybe not keep getting so fat.
