"I have always loved and been influenced by classical themes in art. My ancestry is Italian, Dutch, and Celtic, and many of the gods, goddesses, and mythology appear in my work. My work has developed out of a love for mythology and desire to express long-held traditions in a uniquely personal style. Blending impressionistic brushstrokes with dreamlike imagery, I endeavor to create a dark world of beauty and angst."
I am a self-representing artist working mainly in oils, acrylics, and pencil and ink washes. My subjects range from angels and fairies to landscapes and still-lifes, and mythology.
*Update 12.2008: Lately I have been experimenting with photography. One of my favorite photographers has said, "Photograph what you love". I have been an avid doll collector for over 10 years; my collection includes all-vinyl boy and girl dolls, as well as limited edition artist dolls from such notables as Hildegard Gunzel and Zwergnase, plus one of a kinds by Bastet2329 and Ugly Shyla
I began photographing my doll collection--noticing how lifelike even the vinyl ones were. Each doll has its own personality, even though their faces and bodies are "cookie-cutter", factory made. Every photo tells a story about the doll; some of them were bought second-hand, and their past seems to twinkle in their hard plastic eyes. It is they who have adopted me. I am the original owner of most of the dolls, and maybe its my past that is being photographed here. Who knows? The custom -made artists dolls gleam with the personalities of the artists who made them, as well as the spirits that inhabit their inanimate bodies, twisting them and shaping them, till over time, as with people, even they do not resemble their newly-birthed forms. Enigmatic and engaging, the dolls tell both their stories and mine.
My prints are developed using Inkpress luster paper at 10.4 mil thickness and 95% brightness, giving the images a satin-y glow, longer lifespan (according to www.inkpresspaper.com!)
I have an Epson Stylus 1400 printer with 6 ink cartridges for finer ink distribution and higher resolution; you can't even see the dot gain!
