Welcome to Wild Horses Designs! Nature is the inspiration for my gourd art. I'm constantly looking for new ideas and animals are my favorite subject. I like doing portraits for that special pet of yours and I try to capture those little quirks of animals to provide the viewer with a feeling of the true personality of the animal. Many of my gourds take hundreds of hours to create due to the intricacy and detail. The images and detail are pyroengraved (woodburned) and then enhanced with color. I crush my own stone which I mix with epoxy resin to use for my inlays. I use a Dremel Tool to carve and use a variety of mediums to color and embellish my gourds. Finally I cover the piece with a protective polyurethane finish to protect the surface for years to come .
My purses are all hand knitted and felted with a variety of wools. Other yarns are sometimes added for interest like mohair, silk and any of the other fancy yarns. I get many compliments whenever I carry one of mine. They are very durable and sturdy and should last a lifetime.
I have tried to make the photographs of my products match in color as closely as I can. Due to the differences in computer monitors there may be some color and contrast variation from the actual product. For instance, the mahogany color is a very beautiful, rich deep color that, try as I might, I just couldn't get. Please convo me with any questions.
