Welcome! I'm so glad you stopped in to see Adi Shakti Studio's etsy store. Whether you carefully typed in my mouthful of a studio name or stumbled upon this little spot on the internet, I am so happy you dropped in! I am an artist trained in ceramics and drawing but have recently been dabbling in acrylic and encaustic painting. I have a small home studio in the Willamette Valley area located in a wondrous place called OREGON.
Living in such a beautiful place not so far from a gorgeous mountain, the roaring ocean beaches, or a fern laden forest I am touched by nature and it is the common thread in my artwork. If it is not a symbol of nature outright, then it may be a color or texture or sometimes an impression I created from an interesting plant I found outside. I blame it on my Norwegian heritage that I am constantly bringing nature indoors. I am intrigued by both traditional and contemporary scandinavian designs and like to incorporate them into my artwork.
I am highly distractible so I am normally onto another idea before the kiln has cooled on the last glaze fire. So much so I have difficulty organizing my thoughts and artwork into this etsy shop. I can tell you a story about what spurred the creation of each piece. And I am happy to do it! I love to collaborate in the studio and often work with another artist or family member (mainly Dad) to create something I wouldn't do on my own. I open my studio up once a week so all who want to try their hand at clay are able to. The word "Shakti" means: to be able. Adi Shakti is the divine personification of creation. In addition to my Norwegian heritage and love of nature I ground and focus myself with yoga and meditation daily (almost). And if not that, then a good or plentiful glass of red will do the trick.
So here it is, as the Norsk would put it: "Alt har ein ende, så nær som pølsa: Ho har to" Everything has an end, except the sausage, she has two.
Sat Nam!
