My colourful and detailed paintings are created using acrylic on canvas. My unique style developed whilst planning a collection of wild animal and farm animal paintings for my daughter’s nursery. The process began with researching and sketching animal movements at London Zoo and at a local Kent farm and combining those with human characteristics.
The story telling in the compositions is an important part of the planning process, to encourage creative dialogue and the imagination of a young child exploring the world. Final compositions are mapped out directly onto the canvasses and then the exciting part begins – mixing and applying layers of vibrant, jewel-like colours of paint and hours of intense detailing, often unknowingly into the early hours.
Inspiration is all around me; the most influential being vibrant, zany Polish textiles that surrounded me during my childhood, and a keen interest in Far Eastern and European folk art.
After 12 years working in Art Licensing, brand and product development for international companies including Mattel, Disney and most significantly at the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) I now works as a full-time artist, creating daily from my studio. Stockists of my Fine Art Prints include the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill and a number of London based art gallery shops. I also sell regularly at Art Fairs in London and the South East.
