Walking along the beautiful beaches in Florida I stumbled upon some pieces of driftwood floating in the surf. I loved the driftwood and knew I could do something with it. I have always loved sun catcher and thought a piece of driftwood would be a great anchor for it. After looking through my collection of beads, gems, crystals and other sea treasures, I started designing the suncatchers. The rest is history.
When replacing my old wooden picket fence with a new one, the pile of old pickets sat there ready for me to take to the recycling center, I thought there must be something I can so with those old pickets!! So I drew out a silhouette of a fish on a piece of cardboard, traced it on the picket, cut it out and sanded it. After painting the fish, I started designing. And before I knew it, I had turned an old wooden picket fence into a fish sun catcher!
I just retired from teaching after 43 years and have found my niche designing sun catchers with driftwood, wooden fish, and starfish. I truly love designing these one of a kind keepsakes for that shopper that is looking for something unique.
