It was my birthday but I was very sad. I was ready to sell my 6 acres of land in the Sierra National Forest. My dream to dig a well and build a cabin had not come to be. But then, over blackberry pie, my retired truck driver uncle and I decided to build a one room cabin, on our own, using mostly recycled materials. Who needs running water and electricity anyway?
Now I am very happy :) I didn't sell the land and I have my little 8x13, solar powered cabin and it is my castle. Hence the name of this shop, CabinCastle. I go there often, to hike, read, rest, build things and to make some of the art that I sell here on Etsy.
When I'm not in the mountains, I'm teaching yoga, photographing children and designing websites. I have two beautiful children and a wonderful husband who loves to travel with me and gives me lots of alone time to work & play. I love 18th and 19th Century Europe and hope to someday spend a year living in France or Italy, roaming flea markets and museums.
I design and hand create all the work using my own photographic images and scans of images from my vintage collection. I'm a Virgo who's a little nutty about detail.... so you can count on each piece being crafted with careful, loving attention.
