Canemah Studios began as an outlet for my fine art and has grown to include vintage and antique cameras and typewriters.
At the time, I was producing fine art original relief prints, paintings and handmade paper. I began making prints while still in art school and have continued to be enchanted with the printmaking process.
Papermaking came later, as I pursued post Bachelors degree classes in horticulture. I began to experiment with different plant fibers.
Encouraged by my early results, I sought to learn better and more professional methods. Using prunings from my own garden and from a local plant nursery, I experiment with different fibers.
I view the process of creating paper as the recycling of materials from plants that feed people, animals and the soil. Perennial plants that die in the winter and are reborn in the spring, provide leaf and stem fiber.
I'd been collecting vintage cameras for many years and decided to try selling them in my store. To my delight, other etsians were passionate about vintage cameras too and a love of finding these treasures blossomed.
Recently, I've fallen in love with vintage and antique typewriters. The adventure continues....stay tuned to this station : )
