While many cultures have traditionally used recycled textiles, Claudia Mills Studio designs rag rugs in a fresh palette of colors and new materials updating the age old technique to create contemporary floor coverings and wall pieces for today's living and working spaces. In a small production setting, Claudia Mills Studio designs and manufactures one-of-a-kind handwoven rugs and bags. As a designer, Claudia strikes a balance between color, texture and pattern in each piece.
The line of handbags evolved from the floor coverings, each one woven individually, as a small rug and constructed off the loom into different styles. We use not only the fabric strips but also strips of leather to create our bags and rugs.
