Comfort for Critters was founded by Linda Kastiel Kozlowski, after she adopted a kitten named "Anna," and wanted to do something for all the pets which she couldn't take home from the shelter that day. Instead of bringing in old towels, as was suggested, she asked if she could crochet blankets for the cats, dogs and other pets. She began by supporting just a few of her local shelters, but now her NPO sends free handmade blankets to over 100 shelters, covering all 50 US states!

Comfort for Critters is a volunteer program that creates these hand-made blankets for pets living in animal shelters. While these pets await adoption, the blankets provide a comfortable bed year-round. When they are adopted, their blanket goes with them, providing something familiar as they adjust to their “forever family”. Cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, Fennec foxes and more “critters” are comforted by this group.

As the founder, Linda creates special one-of-a-kind blankets which are exclusively sold on Etsy to raise funds to support CFC. These funds pay for the shipping of hundreds of blankets, sent to shelters each month. CFC ships between 500 and 800 blankets each month, over 8,000 each year. To date, they have provided over 33,000 blankets to animal shelters across the US.

With every blanket they sell on Etsy, they ship a box of blankets to homeless pets waiting in shelters for their forever family!
