CommunionMillinery's Shop Announcement

My name is Nicholle and welcome to Communion Millinery.

I am proud to say that all of my high fashion avant-garde fascinators are hand blocked (the physical and tactile process of pulling-stretching-sculpting straw/wool material onto the wooden block) using traditional millinery techniques, hand sculpted, and in many cases hand dyed. All are handmade in the USA with the highest quality of materials.

I take pride in the craftsmanship of each piece. I spend intimate time with every detail of each headpiece. From the specific color, bead placement and the shape of flower pedals.

My inspiration tends to come from things that are in a constant state of movement. One of my favorite artist is Shinichi Maruyama, who is known for turning movement into sculptures. My design goal, is to give sculptures movement.

I do not consider myself a trend follower and I am an avid believer in setting trends, creating the desire of want and never being forgotten.

My design process always begins with me imagining my client as the lead actress in a movie (the movie of their life). I think about how she feels when she looks at the fascinator on her for the first time, where she is going, how it puts an extra twinge in her walk, I think about the eyes on her when she walks in the room and lastly, all the memories she has as she takes the hat off and places it in the hat box.
