To me jewelry is like a little secret you carry around with you that makes you happy... if it's a good piece it brightens your day each time you look at it. A great piece of jewelry stands out in all the right ways without being too gaudy. It draws others attention and makes them smile and stirs up conversation. It should represent your personality, what's makes you uniquely you.

Country Mermaids began with innocent childhood joys, the first time I dug into the large box of beads my mother had. Doing arts and crafts with my mother and sisters is one of my earliest memories and I have always kept crafting as a hobby. Several years ago jewelry making emerged as my favorite project and became my escape. The types of jewelry I create have changed along the way but I feel like with Country Mermaids I am finally putting a piece of me out there for the world to see.

It’s always been hard for me to answer the simplest questions, (What is your favorite color? What is your signature style? What one word describes you?) because I can’t choose just one answer. I believe my jewelry really reflects that about me because I, very simply put, just make what I like. I don’t try to stick to any one style and instead really enjoy the eclectic feel of my shop.

Jewelry has been a cure for me in so many ways. Now that my mother is gone creating jewelry is one way I still feel connected to her and I try to show that love in each piece I create. It's easy in today's world to get caught up in everyday life and miss hidden little joys. I create my jewelry in hopes that when people wear it, it helps to remind them of all the happiness life has to offer.
