I (that will be Cecilia) have fiddled with painting, sewing, jewelry making and other kinds of arts and crafts since I was a wee lass; it was purely circumstantial that I came to sit behind a potter's wheel, but at that very first time, I knew. It was like the corniest love story - love at first sight, perfect match and a very happy life together. I was working as a translator at the time, and gradually became more and more involved in ceramics, till the day when I actually dared to call myself a ceramist and to lead the adventurous life of an artist. This would not have been possible, of course, without the full support of my dear husband Eyal. He is a gardener and co-owner of a nursery, but also a musician, chocolatier, and once clay was introduced into our lives, sculptor of the most wonderful miniatures.
Ceramics is a very slow process, which suits our personalities well. It took the whole of two years after hearing about Etsy from a friend who has a magnificent shop here (Shirley Kanyon - shirleykanyon.etsy.com) before we actually got around to open our shop. And what a delight it has been ever since! Having our pots and sculptures live in new home all around the world is very exciting, and some of the buyers are even so kind as to tell us the story behind the purchase, which is often very heartwarming. And on top of it all there is also a lovely community among the sellers, some of which have become dear friends.
