Because a happy life takes a sense of humor and a lot of beads...
Hi There! I'm Lauren, and I sculpt these beads from glass in a studio in Maryland. I don't use molds and every one of them is a one of a kind item.
My lampwork glass beads are made by heating glass rods with a torch. The glass is wound around a metal rod with the end covered in bead release - stuff that looks like clay. The release keeps the hot glass from sticking to the metal. Every color is a result of either adding a new color of glass or by changing how much heat hits the surface of the bead. I put them into a kiln to anneal the glass to make it stronger and then clean them. My wife then takes the amazing photographs that you see through the shop.
If you'd like to keep up with shop sales and what's coming out of the kiln then please come join me on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crowbirdie-Beads/172502179466255
