About AJ Dunne

I'm a born visual artist who made my first sale at the age of six, when, unbeknownst to my mom, I peddled my little drawings door-to-door for a nickel apiece. I started painting at the age of nine, and began formal art training at age 11 with private instructors.

In addition to courses at Massachusetts College of Art, the Art Institute of Boston, and Harvard's Peabody Museum, I received a B.A. in Art from the University of Massachusetts. I've freelanced as a rug designer, commercial artist, and scientific illustrator, while acquiring photographic skills along the way. In the early 90's, I began to focus exclusively on the Fine Arts in both painting and photography.

In 2003, following a lifelong dream, we moved west to the fabulous art town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It has proven to be everything I had hoped. It gave me the time and space to explore new mediums, techniques, and philosophies in a supportive community.

My work has been represented by assorted galleries throughout the east and juried into shows at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Institution. My drawings, paintings, and photographs are in public, private, and corporate collections worldwide, including Paramount Studios, the California State Library System, Talent Egg Canada, Harvard's Peabody Museum, Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and Starbucks.

I currently work from my Santa Fe studio, a sunny space set on a hill overlooking fields full of old wagon-tracks, butterflies, grasshoppers, sunflowers, and fat little prairie dogs.
