This is my second time spinning fiber from Dakota Carding and it is delightful! The colors are gorgeous, and the fiber is incredibly soft. I’m not finished with my spin yet but I expect to be thrilled with the resulting yarn!

Wool, mohair & alpaca fibers are dyed with plant dyes and professional protein fiber dyes for light fast, bright colors.
Here at Dakota Carding & Wool Co. my family & I maintain a flock of about 20 BFL sheep and 4 Angora Goats.
Blades or Hand shears is what I use to gently harvest the fibers from the BFL sheep and angora goats.
This is Clara, our industrial carding mill, 3 tons of steel with a 42 in. feed, she cards most any fiber or fiber blend.
I card a variety of colours & fibers together into blends that are ready for you to spin or felt. Make yarn & peace.

My fiber business grew out of a love for staying at home with my family, my sheep and angora goats and the prairie where I have deep roots.

I have been involved in many aspects of wool production (raising sheep) and wool yarn construction (shearing, washing, carding and spinning wool) during the past thirty years.
Part of my job involves educating and promoting the value of wool (and sheep). Wool grows readily/renewably as a healthy material for garments, housewares material and soil health which makes sheep and wool production such an amazing process.
As I look around, I see a wool supportive community that has blossomed, full of people interested in making their own yarn, raising their own wool or supporting local shepherds. The community of fiber arts is dynamic, caring and a growing web of people committed to an inclusive, sustainable and regenerative world and I am very pleased to be involved.

After 15 years of custom processing wool: washing, dyeing and carding your fibers, I am thinking to sell the custom carding mill business and focus on other community projects that need attention in my fiber arts world.
