The autistic seamstress

I am an autistic seamstress. I started sewing back in the 1980's when I was working at a corporate job. I am an unusual size and I found it impossible to buy clothing. I needed a decent wardrobe so I bought a sewing machine and taught myself to sew. I learned how to make my entire wardrobe.

After a few years I got a side job making model garments for a fabric company. That eventually ended because the company was sold and I was no longer needed. I soon acquired various jobs sewing for small time fashion designers.

Now I have found the niche of sewing with denim from used jeans. I sell the parts of the jeans that I don't use.

I was also in the swap meet business for decades. I would sell many items on the weekends. That's where I learned about vintage. It's so interesting to learn the histories of wares from the past. The most important aspect of selling vintage items is to be honest with buyers about what the item is, the quality and the condition. I do a lot of research before listing anything. There are times when I still don't get it as accurate as I'd like but that's the nature of the beast.
