So what's with the name? What does "Distlefunk" mean?

Well, I'm glad you asked...

DistleFUNK is derived from the word DistleFINK, which is a stylized goldfinch that's originates from Pennsylvania Dutch folk art. Distlefinks represent happiness and good fortune and are most associated with the scandinavian culture. Even though these lovely little birds have been around for quite some time (mid 19th century), I'm happy to report that they've recently made a comeback in popularity and are considered to be quite trendy. Being that it's 2012 and my pendants are so heavily influenced by scandinavian folk art , I decided to bring this funky little bird up to date by adding a little FUNK to his name and thus my shop name was born. Welcome to Distlefunk. :)
