As a young man, I always had an affinity for art and sculpture, but my interest in anything outside of the art of music was sidetracked. Music is how I made my living and currently still do. Working with my hands comes naturally to me. Being a three-dimensional artist is now proving to be fulfilling and so far has been a lot of fun. My current art projects are grounded in pleasure and aesthetics.
I think of my visual art as a form of sculpture made up of an assortment of metals, found objects, repurposed and reclaimed new and old materials. I work with copper, brass, glass, iron and wood. Assemblage is the focus and at times it is spontaneous. My designs are all originals and one-of-a-kind. I work mostly with hand tools, a few power tools and surprisingly, the most important of my tools is a good pair of work gloves!
Although I focus mainly on functional pieces such as lamps and other forms of lighting, I really enjoy my series of large crow sculptures. I have embellished the molded crows with more found objects that I have attached to them. In addition, my body of work also consists of a variety of functional and non-functional pieces, plus a few that are downright whimsical! I plan to continue making and exhibiting my art well into the future.
