How I got started
Growing up I was taught to appreciate the beauty of nature. I am always noticing interesting shaped leaves while out walking with my kids. Much of my work features plant or animal designs incised on them.
I think I've always had an interest in creative activities. In grade school I remember telling people I was going to be an artist when I grew up. I would spend hours drawing or playing in the mud outside.
I took art classes in high school and enjoyed them so much that I decided to major in art in college. I graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas in 2006 with a Bachelor of Art in Art Administration. When I graduated my husband and our parents got me a kiln and a potter's wheel, so I had the tools I needed to set up my pottery studio. I have my studio space at my in-laws farm. My father-in-law had bees years ago, so I now get to use the "honey house" where he once processed the honey.
