I would spend a lot of my time with my aunt and uncle growing up as a kid. I would eat lunch at their house two days a week and stay with them when mom and dad were away. She was just like me in the sense she could not sit still, so she kept her hands busy with knitting.

And that is when it all started. I was six years old and my aunt taught me how to knit. I had made my very own sweater, took it to school for share because I was so proud of myself. I would then spend my time with my mother watching her and trying to help her with her craft projects from sewing with a machine, sewing by hand and crocheting. She made me sweaters, blankets, nursing uniforms, Halloween costumes etc. I found myself also needing to keep my hands busy when sitting watching TV or when I was not moving.

When my mother passed away, three months after my eldest daughter was born, I felt the need to continue with my crafts. A need to pick up the pieces and a way to connect with my mom. I would sit at the sewing machine in tears, wishing she was here to help me, to show me the way, not being able to read a pattern, not knowing how to do this, I did not know if I could do this. But I was determined to succeed and carry on the tradition. So the past eight years I have made my daughters their Halloween costumes, doing it my way, From My Mothers Hands. Creating Christmas gifts for all family, teachers, kids, friends and by word of mouth. The variety really depends on what type of a mood I am in. This varies from knitting, sewing, scrap booking, woodworking, rug hooking, to just being creative.

I have been lectured for years from family and friends about setting up a shop, or finding a way to sell my stuff. Well, 2012 was the year. I opened a shop on etsy.com and set up payment types and have started to bulk up my supply of products. I have linked my shop to that of my facebook page and viola....From My Mothers Hand was created!!

As I continue to check for possible purchases, and sharing of the page I find myself checking my iPhone several times throughout the day. Um..technology again and my iPhone with its apps. Dang it!! Those boys win again.
