Frequently asked questions
Card Printing Process
The Fargo/HID HDP5600 printer that is used prints images and text on cards at 600dpi (dots per inch), while this may not seem like much, consider the fact that most images that you see on the internet are only rendered at 72dpi.
The reason that the printer can maintain such high quality and definition is that the print head never touches the card. Instead the image is transferred to a tough clear laminate in reverse, that printed laminate is then applied to the card using pressure and heat (145°C / 293°F). This causes the printed image on the laminate to literally fuse to the plastic surface of the card leaving the tough laminate on top to protect the card and image.
Are the Mag Stripes on the Cards Real?
All of our card designs that have a magnetic stripe on the back are encoded with the data from card by default. This is done by the printer automatically when a card is printed, the badging software that we use determines which data components from the card are encoded on the magnetic stripe at the time of printing.
Card Quality
We only use the highest quality materials to print cards for customers. All printer consumables such as color ribbons, re-transfer film, overlaminates and all plain and HiCo (mag stripe) cards are from the printer manufacturer (Fargo). Chip and RFID embedded cards are obtained from other reputable manufactures to ensure that they are compatible and will attain the highest level of print quality and durability. Note: embedded chip encoding is not available.
