Sewing began as a hobby I picked up from my mother over the years who has been a wonderful teacher and mentor. She has made anything from baby blankets and children's outfits to my evening gowns for military balls. I was happy to share such a fulfilling common interest with my mom, little did I know that my excitement and drive would turn into what it has become today.

I found myself starting to make baby gifts for friends who were expecting about seven years ago. Blankets made with flannel and edged in satin binding have always been my most popular gift for expectant mothers. The recipients insisted I start an Etsy shop when these blankets became favorites among their children who sometimes still sleep with their blankets well into their elementary school years! Little did they know at the time, but they led me into a wonderful journey full of unexpected results--This was the beginning of JKB Embroidery and Vinyl, initials incorporated from my first born son's name, my husband's, and my own.

Since I started embroidery and applique shirts, I have been humbled by the response to the welcome home orders. It puts a smile on my face to think that those bodysuits and shirts are going to an extremely happy family that is about to experience a long awaited homecoming! There is truly nothing like a military homecoming, I have been through three myself (as I am a wife of a Marine) and each one was just as special as the others. Monogramming kitchen towels and bags has become an obsession in my life. I've been known as the monogramming queen here in Anchorage, AK. I started offering Bible covers and cosmetic bags first, but my stock of blank items has only grown with the more requests I receive.

I am a recent college graduate (yay!) and mother of two hockey obsessed little boys - a 6 and 4 year old - and having a shop allows me to spend time with them and work in between studying for my CPA exams, their practice schedules, and much anticipated hockey games.
