I have always loved drawing.
I graduated from Middlesex University with a BA in Ceramics, and it was here that I discovered a love of Outsider Art. This led to 15 years working at the magazine Raw Vision and time spent curating exhibitions of other people's art.
Around five years ago, after a break of way too long, I felt myself drawn back to making art and began not only making art on a daily basis, but running Art Club at my son's school and workshops at my home. Making art fills me with joy and encouraging creativity in others is also a thrill. I love to experiment with new techniques and feel the freedom of making mistakes and learning from them. In Art Club, we call these "happy accidents".
It is through a series of Happy Accidents that my Etsy shop came about. When I started making art again, I began sharing my imperfect work as a way of showing others that it doesn't always matter what it looks like, it just feels good to make art. And I found that the more art I made, the happier I felt and the better it got until people started asking if they could buy my work.
So, it is with great pleasure that I share my work with you... I hope you see something you like in my JOYartLondon shop and it is my wish that it inspires you to create something of your own too.
