An unexpectedly wonderful journey
Jane McAdams Press started as a dream. It was my "someday" goal-- I knew I dreamed about owning my own stationery business, but it was very far from my reality working in a cubicle answering phones all day.
One day I was talking about this dream to my sister, and she suggested that maybe I should put a few printable items on Etsy, just to make a little extra money until I could actually start the business "someday". I agreed that this was a great idea.
As I put this plan into action, soon I realized that I could attain the equipment and resources necessary to start building the business that I eventually wanted. Over time, this small idea turned into a business plan for starting my own real business. I planned to design and print on the side until I could start making enough money to quit my dull office job.
A year after my sister's suggestion, I officially launched Jane McAdams Press, with my business license and great pictures for my website and online store. I planned to go full-time in 2 years or less.
Two months later, I was too busy with orders to keep going to my day job, so I quit my job in order to run Jane McAdams Press as my main career.
Every day, I feel incredibly blessed to be doing this for a living, and I sometimes can't believe that my dream actually became my reality.
