When I was about 7, my grandmother was making yet another one of her beautiful afghans. I watched her hands go very quickly and steadily as she was making each stitch with ease. She saw my face and sat me next to her and taught me a few stitches, She gave me some scrap yarn and the first Barbie blanket was born (sideways and askew, albeit, but it was still something!)
Years went by and on and off I would try to make new things. My grandmother had passed away, so I would try things on my own...new things. Screwing up so much, I knew I had to buy a few books to grab back the memories from years past. After years of practice and gift giving, I knew I had to share my craft. So many people told me I had to try to sell my items. It was worth it. So here I am.
Since then, I graduated from the bulky, scratchy yarn I could afford into finding nice and pretty yarns. And since I'm good for a deal, I bargain hunted to find just the right materials.
I believe everyone is worth a nice item and I try and make it happen without breaking the bank. I think my grandma would be happy!
