Announcement    Hi Folks,

If a listing says "salvaged wood from AZ" it is Mesquite. There are about 17 different species of Mesquite and when I get the wood it comes from waste piles generated by arborists. I can't tell what species it is but they are all similar. I'm not putting the name of the wood in the listings because there is a bot that is removing or making unavailable listings with Mesquite in them because this wood has been labeled a noxious weed. The wood I get is long dead when I get it and there is zero chance of your utensil sprouting and growing. But Etsy has been doing this to my and other peoples' listings because of this label. There are no seeds or anything that can grow but it is a very good wood for making utensils. In fact, it's my second favorite wood to carve. If the listing says salvaged fruit wood, it is Apricot. Etsy has also been making these listings unavailable. I think it is because where we live, it is illegal to plant Apricot trees. This is because the potato farmers have lobbied the government to ban them because they can harbor an aphid that can carry a virus that is harmful to the potato crop. The wood I get is down and dead, removed from yards for various reasons. It is not a threat for harboring the aphids. Some of my wood comes from trees that were removed by the contractors that spray the trees. They try to talk the homeowner into cutting them down and they give them an Apple tree in exchange. Future spoons!
