LDelaney miniatures was born of the need to get rid of the not-so-miniature pile of scrap materials growing in a corner of my room. During undergrad I sold scarves and pillows at boutiques in Michigan. Several years of successful sales, coupled with a fear of ever throwing anything out, led to a sizeable accumulation of crafting remnants! What on earth to do with all of the bits and pieces of fabric and ribbon? The answer came one Christmas when I decided to make a box of personalized miniature accessories for my grandparents--- dollhouse hobbyists who had created beautiful dollhouses for themselves and all of their grandchildren. The box was a success and included a miniature version of my Grandma’s wedding dress, miniature family portraits, and miniature versions of my Grandparents’ handmade quilts. Recently I discovered Etsy and the rest is history!
The mission of my store is really multifold. I want to minimize waste of materials by creating unique dollhouse accessories from crafting debris. Secondly, I want to increase the accessibility of the hobby by keeping my prices reasonable. One of my frustrations as a child was the high expense of the available dollhouse accessories, whose quality was inconsistent at best. If you enjoy displaying these as much as I have enjoyed creating them, then my store has been a success!
Give me your input!
I really think that the charm of a dollhouse lies in its attention to detail: the unexpected surprise of a pair of slippers by a bed, a bundle of love letters peeking out of a drawer, the birds' nest tucked away high in the gables. What other things would you like to see? Maybe you have an idea of something you’d like to add a personal touch to your own dollhouse? Let me know!
