Welcome

Welcome to the Lazy Caterpillar! Everything here is handmade by me in a smoke-free environment. Your purchase will be nicely packaged and safely shipped. I have over 10 years in creative business. High quality standards and excellent customer service are a top priority. Custom orders of existing production designs are always welcome. I do accept returns of unused product following the guidelines of my refund policy outlined below.

LAZY CATERPILLAR'S GREEN-NESS: The Lazy Caterpillar cares about its footprint--otherwise there might not be enough yummy leaves left for the caterpillars to munch on! We've recently started emailing sales receipts rather than including them in packages. And we're phasing out the cello bags we ship our banners in, and moving towards a paper alternative. These small changes really do add up!

Payment

Payment is expected at time of order through Paypal, where you can securely use your credit card or bank account with or without a Paypal account.

UPDATE: I do accept credit cards by phone if you prefer to call me to place your payment. HOWEVER, you must contact me first to set up a reserved listing using "Other" as your payment option. Etsy requires orders initiated through their site to be processed on their site so they can collect their fees.

Most of my listings are available for personalization and customization. I am more than happy to customize and personalize your banner(s) and accessories with your colors and the wording of your choice. You can contact me with your needs and I will set up a reserved listing for you. PLEASE NOTE: Items marked "READY TO SHIP" are never available for customization--you will receive the exact item pictured.

Once I have received payment, I will begin work on your banner(s) in the order your order was received. PLEASE BE AWARE: There will ALWAYS be people in line ahead of you! My current turnaround times are always listed in my shop announcement; in my shop tagline; in the item description; and in the confirmation email you receive when you order.

I WILL NOT rush your order unless you contact me FIRST to discuss your rush order options. Leaving me a note to seller at checkout that you need your banner in two weeks is not going to work. My rush order options are as follows:

1) For US orders that need to be received in 4 weeks, a Rush Processing Fee of 25% of the custom item(s) total is required.

2) For US orders that need to be received in 3 weeks, a Rush Processing Fee of 50% of the custom item(s) total is required.

3) For US orders that need to be received in 2 weeks, a Rush Processing Fee of 50% of the custom item(s) total is required, as well as an Express Shipping upgrade.

4) For non-US International orders that need to be received in 4 weeks, a Rush Processing Fee of 50% of the custom item(s) total is required, as well as an Express Shipping upgrade.

5) Rush processing is not available for non-US International orders that need to be received in less than 4 weeks.

Shipping

Most items in my shop are made to order. Check my shop announcement for the most current turnaround time. Please contact me PRIOR to ordering to arrange a custom listing if you need your order urgently.

I ship via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Express shipping upgrade is available, and required for some rush orders. Please contact me prior to ordering. *** I ship to the shipping address you type into Etsy. If this is different from the shipping address you want to use, please make sure to update with Etsy. ***

Priority Mail usually takes 2-3 days to ship to the 48 states, 5-6 days to Hawaii and Alaska and territories. APO may take longer. International may take 1-6 WEEKS. If you need an Express upgrade, please let me know prior to placing your order so I can adjust the shipping charges.

International buyers are responsible for any taxes, tariffs, customs or brokerage fees incurred upon receipt. I have no control over the Post Office's shipping times, delivery mistakes, or a country's customs office.

I am more than happy to include a brief gift message and ship to a gift recipient's address, just let me know in the seller message. Otherwise your purchase will be shipped to your ETSY address (please update with ETSY if necessary).

I send a shipment confirmation email to your EMAIL address provided by Etsy. I also update your order status to "shipped". A packing slip is automatically included in your shipment confirmation email and not in your package.

Refunds and Exchanges

I want you to be happy with your purchase and comfortable with your buying experience. If there is a problem, please email or convo me to let me know what's going on.

You may return your non-personalized item(s) within 5 days of receipt, providing it is in new, re-sellable condition and in the original retail packaging. Used (including photo shoot use) or damaged items, CLEARANCE items, or items returned after 5 days, cannot be accepted. Custom name, initial, date and special order non-production items cannot be returned.

The buyer is responsible for paying return shipping except in the case of my error. Please pack your return shipment carefully and consider tracking and insurance (if necessary). I cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail during return shipment.

Customizing Your Banners FAQ:

Q: What is your turnaround time?
A: My shop is very busy and there are always people in line in front of you. You can expect your custom order to take about 4-5 weeks to complete, in addition to shipping time. Please see my PAYMENT section above for RUSH PROCESSING option details. My most current turnaround time is always listed on the front page of my shop in the announcements, tagline, item descriptions, and order email.

Q: Can you rush my order?
A: I WILL rush your order IF you contact me FIRST to discuss your rush order options. Leaving me a note to seller at checkout that you need your banner in two weeks is not going to work. My rush order options are as follows:

Q: I am planning ahead. Can I get a quote for a future event?
A: Yes. However please note that quotes are only valid for 30 days. If your purchase is not made within 30 days, you will need to contact me for an updated quote.

Q: Can you set up a custom listing for me to purchase?
A: I am happy to set up a custom listing for you to purchase. It will be listed as a “Reserve Custom Order for [your first name or part of your username]”. I will send you a direct link to purchase.

Q: How and when do I pay you? And when will I get my banner(s)?
A: Your order must be placed through Etsy and payment received before work on your banner(s) begins. Once I receive payment for your order, I will begin your project in the order it was received. Please see my shipping section for shipping time approximations and Express mail upgrade details. If you need your order urgently, please see my PAYMENT section above for details.

Q: How do I tell you my colors and style? Will you be contacting to discuss details?
A: Leave me a "note to seller" with this information at checkout. I will not be contacting you unless I need clarification.

Q: Can you make a banner that says “_____”?
A: Yes! I would love to make any of my banner styles with the word, name, date, or phrase of your choice.

Q: Can I pick out the exact prints/papers I want?
A: Due to the volume of inquiries and orders I receive, I am not able to accommodate requests to see pictures of my available papers. My stock generally rotates out very quickly, and by the time one person makes a decision about a print/paper, I may have already committed the last of my stock to a customer's order. PLEASE NOTE: I design the banners, not the papers!

Q: Can I see pictures of the papers you have?

Q: How can I be sure the papers will be the right colors?
A: If you are concerned about color accuracy, it may be helpful to send me a link to view an example of what you mean by a color name. Some customers have sent pictures of their invites, links to bridesmaid dresses, or simply a link to their color(s) at Google Images. Please be aware however that there may not always be a paper in the exact shade and tone you are looking for. I will do my very best to provide you with colors as close as possible to meet your needs. PLEASE NOTE: I design the banners, not the papers!

Q: Can I have a banner made in my event colors?
A: Yes! I keep a selection of high quality heavyweight print and solid scrapbook papers on hand in a variety of popular colors. The letters and prints can be customized to include your colors. The Kraft cardstock base and burlap are not customizable, however.

Q: Will my banner look EXACTLY like the picture?
A: No. Most of the banner pictures you see in my store are those I have previously created for customers. They are there to show the style, size and materials along with possible words, phrases and colorways.

Q: I really like exactly how banner “xyz” looks and want those papers!
A: Chances are I have similar papers in stock, and I will do my best to include them. However I cannot guarantee you will receive a certain paper as my inventory is dependent on availability.

Q: Can I have my banner with just one print?
A: Sometimes! It depends on availability--contact me with your 1st, 2nd, 3rd choices and I will let you know if this is possible.

Q: My event has a vintage/colorful/modern style. Can I get papers which reflect that?
A: Yes! I keep a selection of print paper styles on hand.

Q: Will you take pictures of my banners before you ship them?
A: I do not routinely take photos before sending orders. If you need a photo, please let me know when you order. Please note that change orders are limited to one change per flag and are charged at my per-flag price plus 25%. Change orders may be subject to current turnaround times, therefore delaying your order.

Q: Can you change the style of “xyz” banner? I want something a little different.
A: I can probably accommodate, just convo me! (I will not change my signature Kraft cardstock layer, however.)

Q: Can I get "xyz" banner in a pennant style?
A: I do not make pennant banners--there are MANY, MANY other Etsy sellers who make pennant style banners if that is what you are looking for.
