I like to emphasize contrast, pattern, and harmony in my work. I like pairing the rough with the refined, the precious with the primitive, the natural with the industrial, and the colors of the sea with the colors of the land. I am drawn to the idea of creating "cultural collages" with jewelry and combining materials and textiles from all reaches of the world. I believe that jewelry not only adorns, but also imparts a spirited bravery and splendor to the wearer. It has been worn throughout history and speaks endless volumes about the wondrous traditions and beliefs of humankind.
