I was just a child when I embarked on my first plane ride across the Pacific Ocean. Huddled in a crowded airport with my family, I remember feeling overwhelmed and apprehensive about where we were going. In an effort to distract and entertain me, my mom took out a pen and sketched a ballerina on the first thing she laid her hands on, which happened to be a napkin tucked in her purse. I was mesmerized by how beauty could be created as if by magic with just the simple strokes of a pen. From then on, I've always had a love for drawing. A couple of years later, I also developed a passion for paper crafting when I discovered how to make pop-up cards. I recall how proud I felt to give something made by me to my siblings on their birthdays. I continued to hone my drawing and design skills through Architecture coursework at the University of Texas at Austin. I also learned to do amateur animation and won a music video-making contest for my song category in a competition hosted by my favorite band, Keane. These days, I continue to create pop-up cards of Twin Cities attractions, and design custom cards for special occasions and functions. I find the act of creating incredibly fulfilling, and I thank you for allowing me to share my handmade items with you.
