I make jewelry (jewellery!) in sterling silver, copper, stainless steel and aluminum, etched with my own handmade, hand lettered calligraphy designs. The etching method I use is an environmentally friendly procedure, without the use of acids that is otherwise commonly used in etching.
The letters always start as pen made originals with steel nibs and ink on paper - my favorite tools. I cut, etch, oxidize and finish each piece by hand in my husband's workshop and in our kitchen, turning every item into the best possible piece of jewelry.
The words I chose to etch are sometimes requests from friends, sometimes phrases I hear or read in my daily life, sometimes proverbs and sometimes simply words that inspire and encourage.
