ORGANIC: IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK!
We know. Most people think “organic” and they picture oatmeal-colored rags that look like the clothing version of a cardboard box. Not here. Bright, fun colours, super-soft cottons, and stylish cuts are the name of the game.
...And so is keeping your little ones adorably dressed, blissfully comfortable, and untouched by harmful dyes or chemicals. The big picture? Saving the planet, of course. But there’s no reason that has to mean compromising style.
OUR PRODUCTS: TEST-DRIVEN BY WIGGLY KIDS.
Besides being comfortable, healthy, and the subject of compliments wherever you and your kids go, Me&Tata clothes are test-driven to the nth degree. They hold up to crawling, playground tumbling, and multiple washings. They’re easy-on, easy-off -- even on the biggest wigglers. And, even when their clueless aunt or novice babysitter takes a turn dressing them. (Always amusing to watch.)
WHO IS (OR ARE) ME&TATA?
I’m Sara Fraga. I guess I’m the “me." To come up with the name, I approached my top branding expert: I asked, “what name do we like?” She answered, “Tata.” Did I mention my branding expert was my daughter, Salome? She was 10 months old. She may have been asking for milk or a fresh nappy, but I used it.
MORE FUN FACTS:
I’m Spanish, my husband, Fernando, is Colombian, and we live with our two beautiful daughters, Salome and Lola, in Perth, Australia.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
When I was pregnant with my beautiful Salome, I was over the moon. I loved every strange kick. While enjoying my new curves and demanding chocolate, I also thought about how to give this little creature the best possible start. Naturally, that meant organic clothing.
I quickly discovered that most of it was neither cute nor budget-friendly. So, I started sewing my own quilts, baby clothes and blankets. This process brought back childhood memories of watching my mum at her old Singer sewing machine in the kitchen, sewing clothes for me and my big sister. (Patterns not required -- she was a seamstress!) I loved that I was now able to create my very own organic clothing for my girl. This was exactly what I wanted to give to other parents too. Unique, healthy, practical and affordable baby products.
WHY MY OBSESSION WITH ORGANIC GOES SO DEEP (AND YOURS SHOULD, TOO)
My degree in Behavioral Science inspired me to ensure equity for everyone -- including humans, animals, ultimately the whole planet.
And, I became especially obsessed with organic after something my husband told me. Fernando, who has a Masters in Environmental Management, used to work in the Colombian Amazon, where he often saw farmers working with chemicals, with no protection at all. He also worked in flower farms/hydroponics where they used to work with chemicals. He said the atmosphere there is sad. It doesn't smell like flowers; instead, all you can smell is chemicals. I’ve never forgotten that.
