ILLUMINATED PAINTINGS or ADULT NIGHTLIGHTS by Vance Mellen
In the dark of the night, Illuminated Paintings are “Adult Nightlights”--landscapes embedded with small glowing objects that may enter the sleeper’s dreams. Each painting is consecrated against Nyctophobia--or the mind’s fearful and disfigured perception of what might happen in the dark.
I aspire to be a seer in the dark: to see past, present, and future as one; to see hidden things, often with the aid of divine instruments; to warn of real or imagined calamities. I place my often self-aggrandizing visions in works of art instead of in scripture.
For nearly every painting there is a story. I turn these stories into short autobiographical videos which I post on YOUTUBE (search for the TITLE of the painting you are interested in and you may find its video).
