Since you are here, you must be curious about how I got here! I love making. I have made baskets, sculpted stone, painted and so much more! I love putting colors together in fabulous flattering combinations to elicit a certain feeling or tone. With mosaics, the colors are predetermined by the materials being used. However, the shape, flow, texture and image can be any way I fancy! I love playing with light and use a mix of matte, shiny, opaque, and transparent glass. I use a variety of textures and shapes and look at how bits should be placed to best create flow or stillness. I use glass, ceramic tile, buttons, brooches, stones and beads. I love exploring new substrates and methods such as glass on glass and three-dimensional mosaics. Another element of mosaics that appeals to me is their longevity. A well-constructed mosaic will last and last. So yes, it does take a loooong time to make, but once done, a mosaic is a work of art that will last many many years. I like that.
