I'm an over-educated graphic & web designer who, years ago during grad school, decided to make a fun geeky 'zine with friends. Somehow the idea came up of making party favors to sell to raise money, and I decided to make some lip balms. They were yummy enough that I wanted to make more, and I decided hey, I should try to sell these, since I've got way more supplies than I, or my friends, can use up. And my first Etsy shop, Geek Bliss, was born.

Well, the zine didn’t pan out, but I loved making the balms so much—er, I loved designing the labels so much—that I kept the shop going. As someone who loves scifi movies & shows it was great fun to think up new balm ideas (examples: "I Kissed a Cullen," "Acid Burn" (from the movie _Hackers_), "Red Pill" (from _The Matrix_)).

But although I'm a scifi geek, I’m even more of a costume drama geek, and I was quickly inspired to design vintage-y labels. I started brainstorming name ideas, and up popped the idea for Moonsteam Alchemy.

Moonsteam Alchemy was first created in 2010, and by 2012 I was busy enough with my freelance design business that I just didn't have the time for balm-ing, so I let my stock run out. However, I eventually felt nostalgic for my balms & really wanted some for myself & friends for the holidays. So I decided to restock some supplies in 2016...and reopen the shop to sell balms again until the supplies run out. :)
