We love to make collaged cards, we love to see our cards out in the world and we love to recycle.
Deep in rural New England live three women: a weaver, a painter, and a printmaker, who have been friends for over twenty years. As a byproduct of their involvement with paper, fabric, and the products of nature, they produce an abundance of ORTS (scraps), too intriguing to throw away.
After years of using these scraps to make handmade cards for their friends and family, the WWG have now made more new cards than new friends. Direct from their studios in Albany, New Hampshire, and Gouldsboro, Maine, each collage is a unique creation, as individual as each of the Women Who Glue, with the added freedom and spontaneity that comes from using recycled materials.
Our motto is “ORTworks: not for every one," but in fact most people seem to recognize some vision of their own in these collages. ORTworks collaged cards can be a meaningful exchange between the sender and the receiver.
Sometimes someone will buy a card to send and then find they can’t give it up. If you wish we can mat almost any card of your choice, ready for an 8X10” frame, for you or a friend.
