I never thought of myself as an artist because I never had any formal art training. But I have always loved art and I have had the overwhelming urge to create things since I can remember.

Throughout my youth I was always crafting and hand making items. Sewing and crocheting were two of my favorite mediums, both learned from my grandmother. I grew up creating objects made from patterns created by others.

I grew up, went to college and pursued a career in science. I still loved to create but found myself with little time to pursue my creative needs.

In the 1990s, I decided to learn to quilt. The second quilt I made was my own original design and it won a prize in a national contest. I had released my inner creativity and had found my medium! I never looked back.

In the years that followed, I created original, fiber art wall hangings and entered them in art shows around the country. I won numerous awards - I was creating art!

I sold my work in art and craft shows and in galleries in the Midwest for several years. Then my twins were born. Between taking care of a family and working full time as a college instructor, I found myself with no time for entering art shows or fairs. But I still had my passion for fiber and quilting and continued to make art.

This led me to open my Etsy shop in 2011. I had been an Etsy customer for years and was always impressed with the quality of sellers on Etsy and I decided to join their ranks.

Now that I am an online businesswoman, I continue to refine my craft and add new techniques. I am currently delving into art journaling. This is leading to more paint and stenciling in my fiber art. My style is constantly growing and evolving. However, there is always an underlying theme of strong craftsmanship, lots of color, a touch of science, and a good dose of quirky FUN!
