For me, creating unique jewelry designs is extremely gratifying. Selecting from the multitude of materials available, combining exotic colors and hand crafting a beautiful piece of art that you can wear! Amazingly, I got into jewelry making unintentionally. It all began in the fall of 2007; our office support staff team had our annual off-site activity. This time we took on a jewelry making class and I fell in love with it.
For the next year I had fun learning all the interesting elements of jewelry making. Along with creating jewelry I made Christmas ornaments, vase necklaces and accessory cords. I enjoyed it so much I could not stop myself and I created more jewelry than my family, friends and I could wear. With the encouragement of friends and family (I think they got tired of only getting jewelry at Christmas), it was time to start selling and I found Etsy's website. Etsy was the answer to exhibiting and selling the beautiful jewelry created with my new found enthusiasm.
I use several types of stone and glass but I insist on using sterling silver findings -- clasps, chain, earrings, pins, rings, etc. – (unless noted otherwise). Sterling silver is a little pricier but I feel it raises the quality and beauty of the jewelry making it worth the extra dollar.
