Once upon a time, an old married couple - she an artist and avid collector of china and knickknacks, and he a tailor of fine clothing - left the world with a home filled with treasures and assorted neat things.
As a friend of the family, I moved into the house just as they left it. The willed and wanted pieces have all been claimed, and now I am surrounded by a vast collection of mismatched china, vintage fabrics, and a large assortment of bric-a-brac. I have been given permission to keep, donate, give away, or sell anything I find.
A lot were donated to good will, some were given away to friends and family, and I've claimed a few pieces that spoke to me. But I keep thinking about collectors out there who might need one last teacup or saucer to complete a set... those who love to sew and are looking for a special piece of fabric... the true friend looking for that perfect little gift you won't find at the mall.
I don't claim to be an expert on vintage items. I just know that I have a whole bunch of lovely things around me that might be better off with people who can use them to their fullest potential.
