Refresh by Midori embraces recycling, function, and art by using elements of recycled, or natural/earth friendly materials in each piece. I picked those materials because I feel extra good when I recycle, I like making a difference in the world with my work, recycled materials fit nicely in my budget, and I figure with the name "Midori" which actually means "Green" (in Japanese), why not live up to the name and "Go Green"? Our environment and how we treat Mother Earth is a serious matter, yet making a difference and being aware can be fun! Every item has been "refreshed" by Midori with love & respect, all while leaving a smaller ecological footprint. Handmade in the Red, White, and Blue, Baby. Let's Go Green!
I walk the talk and try to keep every part of this site as "Green" as possible. Many of the materials I re-purpose have been donated/recycled by neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family. I often use the local library computers to maintain this website, or my cellphone, which I keep charged with a solar power charger. Usually I ride my bike, roller blade, or walk to the post office to deliver all orders, and when I do drive, I drive a vehicle who's emissions have been carbon balanced via Terrapass. Refresh is honored to be a member of EcoEtsy! I use recycled packaging & shipping materials, please keep the cycle going. I do my best to leave a low carbon footprint on our world!
Along with creating crafts, I write, record, and produce voice-overs. If you would like a custom message created for your business "convo" me and I'll create a custom voice-over listing just for you.
Refresh by Midori products are supported locally by the Ocean Beach Wellness Center and Green Earth in Pacific Beach.
Looking for something special you don't see in the shop? Custom orders of all kinds are welcome, please ask!
I will ship outside the USA, please "convo" me for a shipping quote.
Refresh is a proud supporter of the Frances Klauser Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lapeer High School in Lapeer, Michigan, which helps make it possible for a Special Ed student to attend college. The scholarship was established in 2004 in honor of one of the first Special Education teachers in Michigan (the 1st Special Ed teacher in Lapeer County), she was also my grandmother and lovingly taught me the skills & importance to creatively make due with what little you may have.
Inspirations include: My family, Andy Warhol, Leonardo Da Vinci, Bono, Horst Rechelbacher, Martha Stewart, Living with Ed (Begley Jr.), Tyree Guyton from the Heidelberg Project, Sarah McLachlan (the creator of Lilith Fair), Alyssa Milano (as well as being a great actress, her line "Touch" is in every MLB ballpark), and a bunch of other people.
Reuse, Recycle, REFRESH!
Thank you for your support!
